Historia
Naomi Shaw used to believe in magic. Twenty-two years ago, she and her two best friends, Cassidy and Olivia, spent the summer roaming the woods, imagining a world of ceremony and wonder. They called it the Goddess Game. The summer ended suddenly when Naomi was attacked. Miraculously, she survived her seventeen stab wounds and lived to identify the man who had hurt her. The girls’ testimony put away a serial killer, wanted for murdering six women. They were heroes.

Interesting storyline
Revisado: 04-28-25
This book took me by surprise. First time I’ve listened to this author and narrator. Great combination. I’m an avid mystery listener so it was nice to find something off the beaten path as far as storylines. I do recommend.

I was afraid this would be too fraught with emotion but the story was well told and a good narration.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Revisado: 08-29-24
This is an excellent listen. Informative, disturbing, moving, heartfelt, interesting, funny at times and well done in every way. J.D. Vance does a surprisingly great job doing the narration and adds even additional authenticity to a brutally honest story.

Unexpected surprise
Revisado: 04-07-24
This author and narrator were both new to me. It took me a few chapters to warm up to them both but after that I thoroughly enjoyed this box set. The characters were well fleshed out and relatable. The story lines believable. I am a Southerner and was familiar with the cities and States, lingo and sayings which were all on point. I would recommend this set. For readers who prefer a book without a lot of sex and language this would be a good choice.

Historia
In Oscar Wars, Michael Schulman chronicles the remarkable, sprawling history of the Academy Awards and the personal dramas—some iconic, others never-before-revealed—that have played out on the stage and off camera. Unlike other books on the subject, each chapter takes a deep dive into a particular year, conflict, or even category that tells a larger story of cultural change, from Louis B. Mayer to Moonlight. Schulman examines how the red carpet runs through contested turf, and the victors aren't always as clear as the names drawn from envelopes.

I purchased this on a whim and actually enjoyed it very much. Besides a look behind the scenes of what goes into such celebrity events it follows other major events in this country and shines a light on the struggles of many due to race, gender, religion etc. Worth the read. Good narration also.

Historia
This is the story of how a nerdy, homeschooled kid in the church choir named John Stephens became the Grammy-winning, platinum-selling, genre-pushing pop star we know as John Legend. For a long time, he led a double life—excelling as a star student while his home life was in shambles, working in corporate America as a financial consultant while moonlighting as a musician in nightclubs, always straddling a line between the person he was and the person he wanted to be. These are his Words + Music.

And then there's the runner who simply vanished one day. Joe doesn't mind admitting that the farther he rides, the more he wishes he could just turn around and go home.
