Historia
A year has passed since the Dark Wizard Myrin attempted to take control of the Kingdom of Verania. Though the scars of the final battle remain, Veranians have come together in unity in order to rebuild. Good King Anthony sits on the throne once more, with Morgan of Shadows at his side. However, a king is not immortal. One day, Anthony will step down, paving the way for his son, Grand Prince Justin, to assume the throne. And Justin wants anything but. Unfortunately for him, he finds himself with bigger things to worry about than just becoming the ruler of a country.

Funny but Sam-centric
Revisado: 04-29-22
The long awaited book #5 is finally upon us!!! I've spent so much time imagining Justin's story. So have many others. And it looks like TJ Klune combed through the most popular fanfics on AO3 and picked out fan favorites. This means we get delighted by the return of some old goodies like truth corn, the cheesy dicks song, Tiggy's brooms, and crazy fangirls/boys like Tina De Silva. On the negative side I feel like we didn't get as much Justin. I was so looking forward to the prince's story. To get to know him better and have him go on his own journey. This felt more like he got dragged along another one of Sam's adventures. Even his reactions felt like a watered down Sam. I didn't get that Justin vibe I was looking for. Which is why I'm not scoring this a perfect 5 star read. But it's still a funny book full of magic, shenanigans and sex puns. And Michael Lesley narrated! So still an awesome read/listen.

Maddie. I’m a sucker for nerds. So a biology professor who wears geeky ties and doesn’t realize how hot he is, puts every part of my body on high alert. It also means I’m failing his class. There’s only one way to get him out of my head so I can focus. Seduce him. Turns out that boyish innocence isn’t an act, and while Dr. Reid Emerson is a genius, there are many things he’s never learned. His eagerness to catch up takes my breath away. Will he let me be the one to teach him?

Cute and Romantic
Revisado: 04-20-22
I must confess based on the title and description I expected something more explicit and R rated. I mean a hot professor and a college student in need of "extra credit"? That screams smut. So I was rather taken back by the sweetness of it all. Socially awkward professor has a crush on his handsome, confident student. They inadvertently begin to court and nothing sexy actually happens until very late into the novel. This book completely focused on character development and the MC's helping one another with personal demons. They ought to change the title to something more appropriate like, "A Virgin Professor's Guide to Dating".

This was soooo good! Everything I expect from our beloved Lynn Van Dorn. I went into this blind and my eyes nearly popped out of my head at how hot this was. A NSFW frat initiation story with a good dose of heart and romance squeezed in. In fact the whole running-away-at-the-stroke-of-midnight thing even had some Cinderfella appeal. Very dirty Cinderfella. Whoooh! I totally have a new fetish now.

Historia
Silent film actor Casimir Moreau had imagined that life as a vampire would be freewheeling and glamorous. Instead, he’s plunged into a restrictive society whose rules he runs afoul of at every turn. To “rehabilitate” him, the vampire council orders him mated to an incubus with impeccable breeding. As an inactive beaver shifter, construction engineer Rusty Johnson has fought - and overcome - bias and disrespect his entire life. Rusty can’t face returning to his clan, and Cas needs somebody on his arm to keep the council happy, so they agree to pretend to be married.

Silly, but sooo cute
Revisado: 03-08-22
Ok, so this story is absolutely ridiculous. But if you're willing to accept Twilight's sparkly-in-the-sun vampires surely you can accept EJ Russell's non shifting beaver shifter who travels through time for true love. Just let that silliness roll over you like water on a non shifting duck and you will find a funny, sweet romance.
So in this book a crazy arranged marriage system exists for reasons I'm guessing were explained in book 1. Rusty, a beaver shifter who can't shift, and Casimir, a vampire in constant trouble, sign up for the service. On the day of their weddings their spouses were accidentally wed to other people and even signed a contract in blood keeping them married for like 2 weeks or something with non-optional sex. Again, let the silliness roll right off of you. Cause this story gets crazy sweet the moment Rusty and Casimir decide to temporarily wed as they each have commitments that require a spouse in less than 2 weeks. Now that the fake marriage troupe has been activated we get to the really good part of the book. We slowly explore each of their tragically unfair lives! As they brave the bumpy road of bias together they provide the other with the comfort and strength none other as deemed them worthy of. I love me a hurt/comfort romance. After a good deal of flirting, joking and sharing they start doing smexy stuff, then get wrapped up in a vampire conspiracy that results in bad endings for the both of them. Thus the time travel, which was really weird for me. Maybe if I didn't skip book 1....anyways the ending nearly gave me a diabetic coma with how sweet it was and I totally wanted more. I'm a little disappointed the Casimir's problem was resolved so easily, I kind of wanted a big reveal and drama. Also we were left with a couple of loose threads. I'm guessing there was no time to address it all. This book should've been longer! I can't believe it's over! Not even an epilogue! I'm already having CasimirxRusty withdrawals!
While I liked Greg Bourdreaux's performance I did get confused on who was saying what at times and making up a different voice to distinguish Rusty more easily would've gone a long way. Or even continuing the French accent for Casimir's thoughts and not limiting it to his dialogue. I legit got confused who was saying what at times.
Overall a wonderful experience I would definitely recommend. I'm about to scour EJ Russell's other books for any possible Casimir and Rusty sightings.

Revisado: 01-20-22
This is my new favorite! I absolutely loved it to tears. Broody, uppity lord + tragic hero of need of hugs = 😍😍. Also Allie Therin finally took the intimate scenes up a notch! 🔥🔥🔥
Great standalone, but Magic in Manhattan series is still pretty awesome so I definitely recommend reading that. Sebastián de León is now free after 3 years of magical enslavement under which he committed terrible acts against his will. His current mission is watch over and protect Lord Fine (Wesley). Unfortunately the snipey and jaded lordling witnessed him kidnap a person previously and unaware of Sebastián's enslavement is convinced he is the most vile of villains. But as a particular dark magic caster sets his eyes on Wesley he slowly sees what an abused little marshmallow the man is. And when Sebastián's life is on the line Wesley is determined to save the marshmallow rather he feels worthy of saving or not!

Historia
All Jacob Goldman wanted was for his boyfriend to not take him for granted. His plans, however, only gained him an ex-boyfriend, a damaged classic car, a charge of bird murder, angry townsfolk, and a hot mechanic he wants nothing to do with. All he wants now is his car fixed and to not be run out of town by the angry townsfolk of Oleander for involuntary birds-laughter. Falling for his annoying mechanic is no part of Jacob’s plan.

Small town sweetness and outlandish humor
Revisado: 11-21-21
We return to the kooky town of Oleander where the spoiled, rich ex of our previous protagonist has just run down the Town's beloved flamingo. Aka Involuntary bird slaughter. If Jacob wants to get his car repaired and not get chased out of town by flamingo lovers with torches and pitchforks he's going to have to make nice. And he really doesn't want to. It doesn't matter that the mechanic Levi is totally hot with all his muscles and tattoos, he's probably just a macho dick bumpkin. Levi on the other hand is loving Jacob's aggression. While twinks aren't usually his style Jacob definitely has the long sought after dominance Levi longs for in a lover. As the sexual tension between the two men begins to simmer, they discover the deeper meaning behind the exterior package. Oleander might be crass and lower class, but it has a warmth Jacob has never felt before. And though Levi seems like an entitled prick, there's a hurt man longing for love underneath the surface.
So very touching and emotional while still squeezing in a bird funeral, where the widow in question chases a man with a shrimp platter. I think that had to be my favorite part! And Michael Ferraiuolo did an awesome job narrating! He got all the emotional and comical cues on point.

I got a free copy for honest review. I already read book way back so honestly this was a sweet deal for me to sit back and enjoy the melodies tone of Michael Ferraiuolo's voice. Totally recommend!

Historia
Gabe thinks he’ll never have a bond of his own. He’s bond-cut, which means his scent gland is so scarred, he can’t bond to anyone - not even his best friend, Marcus, who he’s been in love with for six years. Gabe spends every waking moment with Marcus. They co-own a tattoo parlor and share an apartment. It was Gabe who gave Marcus the vibrant bird tattoos all over his body. But Gabe never plans to tell Marcus about his feelings. Marcus deserves a bond. Marcus may be huge, even for an alpha, but everyone knows he’s a marshmallow at heart.

So very Amy Bellows
Revisado: 11-03-21
Not my favorite Amy Bellows book, but it was so very her. We are met with a typical omegaverse world with 2 oblivious idiots so clearly I love with each other it was getting cringy. I perked up upon hearing the term 'pregnancy heat' and remembered why I love Amy Bellows. Very good world building and I did get just a little misty eyed at the warm tender feelings. I love stories like these that do unorthodox pairings. in this case an omega who cut his bonding gland as a teen and thus was unable to offer a traditional bond to the alpha he fell in love with. The whole adoption thing got kind of messy and the in-law drama felt glossed over. I would've preferred a longer story to address those points, but it is what it is. And that's a decent omegaverse romance with plenty of feels and Amy Bellows' kinky @$$ spirit.
I think my biggest qualm was that poetry from book 1 was mentioned but once again no actual prose was written!! Give me @$$ poetry AB, you tease!!!

Revisado: 08-19-21
oh my gods. This was sooooooo hot. Flaming, scorching levels of hotness. I don't always like the daddy kink thing but this hit me just right! With no where else to turn Logan finds himself on the doorstep of his step dad. He had a huuge crush on the burly soldier as a teen and felt bad that his gay porn accidentally got mistaken as Craig's thus leading to the divorce. What can a mischievous twink and strict soldier get up to behind closed doors? 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Also I officially have a Step father kink now. LVD, what are you turning me into??🤣😆

Deliciously Sweet
Revisado: 03-20-21
A deliciously, sweet childhood friends romance. Hansel and Chester were adorbs what with their unknowingly requited crushes on each other. And the story was expertly tied with classic Hansel and Greta themes. I’ll be honest had had my doubts as to how HJ was going to modernize the classic childhood tale. And shame on me for doubting her. Child abandonment, a sweets shop owned by a cranky witch of a woman, and best of all were the many creative uses Chester had for said sweets. Like really. I may never look at a candy cane the same way again. LOL. All the elements were there, but the most tantalizing part of this entire tale had to be the big reveal of the stepmother’s evil machinations. So much anticipation was built on that little dinner party and it did not disappoint. All of this was boosted by Kieran Flitton narration. I just loved his posh British accent. And I felt he did justice to both male and female characters.

Historia
The day Brett Payne turned 18, he attended a party that left him disillusioned, his trust shattered, and feeling betrayed by Tony Russo, his first love. Nearly 15 years later, Brett returns to his hometown of Oleander, Florida, to help his mother, who’s in the hospital. When chance brings Brett and Tony back together, it turns out that while sex isn’t off the table (or the floor, or the shower, or the countertops), Brett isn't sure he can truly trust the man who broke his heart.

Such Raw Emotion 😢❤
Revisado: 02-23-21
I LOVED this. A love story filled with realness and pain. Brette and Tony were highschool sweethearts with big plans. They were going tackle the world together as each other’s first and only. But those rosy dreams were popped and cold reality faced them. Fifteen years go by without them seeing each other. They have over a decade’s worth of relationships, careers and loss under them now. Seeing each other after so long leaves Brette confused and conflicted, but he knows one thing: He will never trust that boy who abandoned him and landed him in the hospital all those years ago. Only Tony isn’t that same kid. And neither is Brette. This second chance romance absolutely tugs at the heart strings and will leave you in tears. The characters and plot were so deep and real. And Michael Ferraiuolo nailed the voice acting.
This is 100% honest 5 star rating. Thank you so much to the Lynn Van Dorn ARC community for giving me a chance to enjoy a free copy of this amazing audiobook. I hope to see a Oleander Chronicles 2 in the near future because I need more of that flamingo loving town!
