A variation of Jane Austen’s books

Very enjoyable. There is a lot going on and many characters activities to follow. Lady Catherine’s personality is still overpowering and boisterous but in this variation she is helpful and kind in her bossiness. She decides to help the Bennet sisters. There is a mystery that is resolved at the end of the book. Many of Jane Austen’s characters from her other books attend a house party that Lady Catherine has at Netherfield. Even though the Bingley sisters and Wickham are missing from this story there’s other devious people to cause problems and angst.

I really enjoyed this variation, especially the first 2/3. Darcy rescuing Elizabeth stranded in the rain and their getting to truly understand each other. I did think an incident towards the end was more extreme than necessary. Since most of the story takes place after the marriage there is more passion but it is mostly tastefully done and fits the story. I enjoyed the narrator and wouldn’t hesitate to get another book narrated by her.

Lovely low angst variation. Elizabeth and Darcy resolve their misunderstandings while still in Meryton. Their conversations are so enjoyable. Georgiana comes to Netherfield with Darcy. She helps him see a different aspect of the Bennet family.

Puppies and children bring out the best in Mr. Darcy. A no angst holiday treat. Very enjoyable. The narrator was very good also.

I loved the book till Chapters 10-14. The contrived misunderstandings and the lack of courage of Darcy and Elizabeth to question rumors and each other is not an unusual situation in a story but for it to happen just as the reader expects the HEA and take so long to resolve irritated me. I agree with another reviewer that Mrs. Matlock seemed like a villain. The ending and epilogue redeemed the book.
Stevie Zimmerman’s narration was perfection as always.

Sneaky Mr Gardiner

Mr. Gardiner is a very sneaky matchmaker. He tells Darcy and Bingley exactly what they’re going to find in Meryton, good and bad. Explains Jane and Elizabeth only want to marry for love so they don’t need to worry about raising expectations or being chased. If you’re fans of Colonel Fitzwilliam and Chatlotte Lucas like me you’ll like their larger parts in this variation. Mary, Kitty and Lydia have secret hidden depths.
As always Benjamin Fife’s narration is great. I never hesitate to get a book he narrates.

This is a new JAFF narrator and I thought she did a great job. I enjoyed both her male and female voices. The premise of competing for an inheritance was new and different. There were new characters but as Elizabeth points out in the story they were very similar to the people at Netherfield.
I enjoyed the puzzles and Darcy and Elizabeth working through their misunderstandings to get to know each other. Though somehow their interactions didn’t feel especially romantic to me. Mr Bennet and Lydia cause most of the angst and irritation.

If you’re a fan of Colonel Fitzwilliam you will enjoy this story. He and Jane feature but Darcy and Elizabeth love story is not forgotten. I enjoyed Christopher Jarvis’s narration. The sound effects took about a chapter to get used to but didn’t distract from the story.

Pride and Prejudice with Magic, Dragons, evil Fae and a secret Mission in the heart of France

This began right where the huge cliffhanger of book one ended. So much happens in this book. Many secrets are revealed. Layer upon layer kept adding to the heart of the story. In the first section there are arguments and misunderstandings. Darcy is still trying to perfect the spellcasting he needs for his mission in France. Elizabeth is trying to understand her duties and bond with the land and people of Pemberley. Neither goes smoothly. But the couple’s love strengthens into an unbreakable bond through this.
There’s action and suspense galore when Darcy leaves for his mission in France. Lots of changes and revelations are happening around Pemberley at the same time. Happily though this book didn’t leave readers dangling off the cliff’s edge like the first. Much is resolved, even more hinted at. I can’t wait for the final confrontation in book 3.
Harry Frost and Elizabeth Klett both did a spectacular job narrating, with the transitions between their sections smooth.

Colonel Fitzwilliam tries to reach Darcy about Romance

I loved the first 3/4 of this book. Darcy realizes after the insult at the assembly that he was wrong. His subsequent attempts to correct first impressions with Elizabeth go awry so he writes to Colonel Fitzwilliam for advice. When the Colonel arrives at Netherfield to instruct Darcy on the proper way to court a young woman there are many lighthearted enjoyable moments. But unfortunately Lydia and Wickham and Lady Catherine enter the story. Expected of course but there’s so much wailing, worrying, discussions that go on & on and stupidity on Lydia and Mrs. Bennet’s part that the story drags in the last hour or so. Harry Frost was the perfect narrator for this and honestly everything he narrates is enhanced.
