Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

REMARKABLY DULL CHARACTERS why all the 5☆ reviews?
Revisado: 02-10-23
How long must I listen until something actually happens? ANYTHING!? Sheesh, the octopus is pretty cool but the rest is just uninteresting and tedious. Probably a good book for people who don't really read. Decent narration.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

I laughed, I cried, I laughed again, I cried again. The quirky writing style took me a few chapters to appreciate but then I couldn't stop. A superb story and characters whom you really get to understand and care about. Plus, JK Simmons' reading is pitch perfect. So, so good!

Historia
David Strorm's father doesn't approve of Angus Morton's unusually large horses, calling them blasphemies against nature. Little does he realise that his own son, his niece Rosalind and their friends have their own secret aberration that would label them as mutants. But as David and Rosalind grow older it becomes more difficult to conceal their differences from the village elders. Soon they face a choice: wait for eventual discovery or flee to the terrifying and mutable Badland....

so much potential to be great, but...
Revisado: 12-08-22
The first half of this book is absolutely fascinating. The world the author creates and immerses us in from page one is gripping and haunting. The conflict the characters will obviously face is terrifying. And then...
Once the main characters deviation is exposed to us, the whole thing kind of goes off the rails. There was so much potential for this to be great but it went from gripping and fascinating to a little goofy and inconsistent, culminating in a fairly predictable slog towards the end.
I was disappointed in the end but I would still recommend this audio book as it is is a fairly quick read, the narrator does an excellent job, and there are parts of the story and the potential future world the author presents that are very well done.

What is going on in this dull story? the first 2 chapters might as well not even exist, and when something starts happening finally in chapter 3, it is totally uninteresting. How do so many people rate this 5-star? 🤔 😳 This is the 2nd Neil Gaiman book I've read and it's even more dull and pointless than the first one. Never again with this author.

This was exactly what I was hoping it would be. Clare Kinney delivers some insightful and creative lectures that showcase the depth of her knowledge while inviting the listener to infuse their own ideas into hers. Never dull and well paced. Great analysis of Shakespeare's tragedies. made me want to go back and read them again.

Inexplicably Slow and Dull.
Revisado: 04-22-22
Anyone who rated this 5 stars must either be a friend of the author or has never read an actually good book. I wanted to like it, I really did. the main characters have some charm and the story has potential but it all goes to waste. It takes more than half the book for a kidnapping to finally happen to move the plot along but by then I didn't care and it barely manages to nudge the plot along. This reads like a sketch or outline of a novel than an actual attempt at good story telling. Really, nothing happens most of the time and then when it does, the "action" makes very little sense and comes out of thin air with little if any detailed development. same for the shallow, superficial characters. if I was reading this on paper, I'd have given up after 100 pages but the narrator is actually quite good. This is simply and disappointingly, just not a very well written novel.

Historia
Roger Keith “Syd” Barrett was the definition of a golden boy. With good looks and an aptitude for music, he was a charismatic child who fast became a teenage leader in 1960s England. Along with three school chums - Roger Waters, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason - he formed what would become Pink Floyd.

Very well done. Thank you!
Revisado: 11-23-21
Thank you Rob Chapman for finally presenting the world and Barrett fans a comprehensive and well researched portrait of Syd the man, the artist, the musician instead of the normal fare of half-truths, myths, and sensationalism. Probably of little interest to those who are not already fans of Syd Barrett or Pink Floyd, but a gripping and haunting story of a little understood genius nonetheless. Bravo. Well narrated and well written.

Historia
As lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis has lived life on the razor's edge. Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.

Coke, Heroin, Sex...Meh...
Revisado: 11-11-21
Pretty disappointed with this book. I understand he was trying to tell the story of his addiction, but how about a little insight into the music or life in the band? That is why people care about your story in the first place. All just about relapses sprinkled with frat boyish brags about the quality and quantity of girls he draws. Meh...
Oh and I didn't like the narration at all.
