Awesome story, but the male narrator was "meh"...
Revisado: 10-08-24
STORY😍❤️
This incredibly heartfelt story explores the meaning of "family" and the role of redemption. I love Kimberly Brown's writing. She is a masterful storyteller and the main characters in this book were mature and swoon-worthy. This is a 5-STAR read without a doubt.
NARRATION 🫤
It pains me not to give 5 stars to this work, but this is an audiobook so I have to keep it real about the narration. The male narrator, while a talented voice artist, was a NOT a good fit for this book. The male character's backstory is that this brotha had to "get it out the mud"... he's got some edge to him. You cannot have a narrator sounding like he's doing a table read of Othello for this character. When he pronounced "the -itis" like he was in Victorian England, I almost lost it. It was frustrating to listen to the chapters that he narrated. Ebony could have (and should have) narrated the entire book by herself. She did a good job voicing characters of different ages. I enjoyed the chapters that she read.

STORY
What a BEAUTIFUL story! Kimberly Brown knows how to weave a complex story about a woman finding herself and a loving brother waiting in the wings to scoop her up once she is ready to be found by another... I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
NARRATION
I want more Ferdinand Bell in my life. His narration is AMAZING! This was a great fit for Sable Lyn too. Well done.

Awesome compilation, but the female narrator... ugh
Revisado: 10-04-24
STORY
This is a fantastic compilation of novellas. Captivating storylines with sugar and spice! The writing was on point!
NARRATION
Winston James is phenomenal as always. Charlie was not a good fit IMO... at times she sounds robotic and her "male" voice is awful. Winston could have read the entire book by himself and I would have been happy. Her narration turned what could have been a great listening experience into an OK one.

Historia
To young Neeka Perry, Denny is one thing. In the streets, he's a whole other entity. She was brave enough to love both sides, upside down, all around, and back again. He provided her with all a girl could believe she dreamed of—security, desire, and, most enviably, genuine love, all wrapped up in gold and diamonds. He removed her far from the course of her ordinary college girl lifestyle and swept her into his world of whimsical madness. For this and more, her love went beyond loyalty. She was devout… devout to him. But is there such a thing as too much passion? Can you love someone too much?

Revisado: 03-17-24
I didn't know exactly what to expect when I downloaded this book. This is the first story that I have ever read by this author, but it wil not be my last. The way she peels back the layers is masterful. She leaves a bit of intrigue while simultaneously making us fall in love with these characters while we watch them fall in love with each other. I love a spicy romance. This had all the spice WITH DEPTH. She gave us a a front row seat to observe the challenges of loving someone that everyone thinks is crazy.
And the narration was top tier! I have always liked Morae, but she bodied this narration. Her male voice has become impressive. And Winston always puts it down.
I cannot wait for part 2 of this story to drop. If you were like me and you are on the fence, I encourage you to take the plunge. You will not be disappointed!

Revisado: 03-05-24
I wish this was longer! I hope there is a continuation because I adore these characters and I want more.
Eva Sherie wrote an amazing story. Even though it was short, the characters had depth and I was invested from the first chapter. And....The spice level was OFF THE CHARTS!
But lemme tell you, this production was INCREDIBLE. Wesleigh always kills it. Nate was a great choice for the male lead. He is a new narrator for me and I definitely want to hear more from him. The icing on the cake was that this was DUET style which is a serious treat.
You will enjoy this one!

Wow. Just wow. I don't even have the words to express how incredible this novel is. This is the first book I have read by Joan Vassar and it is everything! So well done! And Jakobi's narration is Dope AF! Her words and his voices (plural because he gave voice to 50-11 characters) were AMAZING! Thank you both and I can't wait to listen to the rest of this series!

I liked it!
Revisado: 10-21-22
This was my first time reading anything by Ms. Little and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought most of the dialogue and the situations were realistic and mature and I appreciated that.
Regarding the Narrators....
Jakobi Diem can read ANYTHING and I will love his performance. Periodt! Someone else said that he could read the phone book and it would be fire. I damn sure agree. When I'm looking for something new I actually search by HIS name because his voice, tone and delivery are ALWAYS on point....
Now, the female narrator did not have the right tone for the book in my opinion. She wasnt terrible. And she did try to differentiate between characters, but her voice was high pitched, a bit whiny and the articulation just didn't match the main female character at all.
I don't know if authors fully appreciate the role of chemistry between two narrators, particularly in a romance/drama novel. Wesleigh S. and Jakobi are two narrators that independently are incredible at their craft... but when you put them TOGETHER their skill and chemistry enhances the aural experience. There is a reason why certain narration duos are frequently mentioned in the comments and reviews. When we see their names together the book becomes an automatic purchase for many of us.

Revisado: 09-21-22
I adored this story when I read it. AH never disappoints and I loved the way the unconventional love story blossomed between Dray and Stevie.
Listening to my FAVORITE duo bring Alexandria's magic to life was amazing. Wesleigh and Jakobi need to narrate EVERY 👏🏾 DAMB 👏🏾 THANG!!! 👏🏾 Period. I'm almost at the point where if I don't hear those two narrating together I can barely listen.
Well done!
