Lizard brain to prefrontal cortex
Revisado: 04-01-25
This is a wonderful book!
Jefferson is a soft spoken Texan and he is amazing, as I am sure everyone who has been following him knows and this book is a concise masterpiece. The information is clear, it is very well written, I have already started applying it and I am going to read it again.
Most importantly... I have listened to it in one breath... It is really pleasant and easy to listen to (especially as English is not my first language)... He is a true Master Communicator and I am glad I got this book.
I have already used "I will not have a conversation on this tone", to paraphrase.
The book is filled with one liners (that I plan to write down) you can use to temper yourself, other people and your environment, and take the energy from the lizard brain back to the frontal cortex.
Several experts in the communication line of work suggest 3 things... Slow down, control your breathing, be non-reactive. I am working on that right now.
Amazing book! Thank you!

The bible of consciousness
Revisado: 07-09-21
I rarely find a book so full of gems and wisdom.
What a phenomenal observer with a grand imagination Fred Dodson is. How wonderful it is that he can create rapport with the reader and that my current viewpoint allows me to be able to relate to this book in such manner.
Please don’t take this book as a one time read. This is better than a university course and it must be thoroughly studied, repeated and practiced in action.
His comprehension of consciousness and ability to share the information in such a clear manner are mind boggling, astonishing.
It’s like the gift that keeps on giving.
Please skip the following lines, if you want a shorter review. I will put them between brackets.
( I am currently building on the momentum that I have been fortunate to enter because of this whole corona pandemic. Last year, in the middle of panic attacks I never thought I would have again, I realized how easily I could put attention on something else. I was aware of the fact that “what you focus on you feel”, but it wasn’t until last year that I pretty much fully comprehended this statement. It’s stunning. At first, I thought I was bipolar, as I could go from happiness to sorrow in a matter of moments, but, when I regained composure, I realized that it's that fast that one can change a viewpoint that is present in awareness.)
Then, I remembered the master of viewpoints Fred Dodson is, and I ran into this book that I felt a tremendous desire to read.
I ran into his books before, but I was on a different consciousness level that didn’t present them as the gems they appear to be on my current level. I did know they were great, but they appeared to be less shiny and comprehensible for me. Also, I was not ready to put them in action, which is still one of my issues, but I am making serious progress.
I’ve read and experienced a lot. My biggest teachers are Lester Levenson, Neville Goddard, Emmet Fox, Florence Scovel Shinn, Advaita Vedanta through Ramana Maharshi (and others) and Tony Robbins.
My previous favorite book was "Keys to ultimate freedom" by Lester Levenson (a compilation of his talks), but this has surpassed it. One of the main differences is that Fred Dodson manages to create rapport with the reader, taking them by the hand with the use of questions and showing them various aspects and viewpoints that can be present in consciousness.
He teaches you how to transcend limitations, by taking you from viewpoint to viewpoint. His work is like a museum/exposition of viewpoints that one could forever walk through, never getting bored.
One of the most amazing things about him is that he encourages you to trust yourself and to fearlessly cruise from viewpoint to viewpoint and to immerse in the one you want to experience.
In the end of my long review, if I can call it that, I would like to say one more thing and to share a quote.
1. No matter the energy level you are on, love and appreciation are two higher aspects that can pretty much be practiced on all levels, and they offer protection, as Fred Dodson says.
2. Here's a quote from Emmet Fox, (which contains an idea Fred Dodson and others have also insisted upon), that I will do my best to use for this book.
"Many people say to me, "I want to get on faster. I want more understanding." And as a rule they go on to ask for a list of books to read or some "advanced course" that they can take.
This attitude is quite mistaken. It implies that spiritual advancement is a question of intellectual activity - of the mere accretion of knowledge. That is true in the study of mathematics or of physics or chemistry, but it is not true in metaphysics. Spiritual growth comes from putting into practice the knowledge we already possess. Instead of reading another book, read your favorite book once more and apply it more carefully than ever in your practice life.
Metaphysics, like music, is both a science and an art. In metaphysics, it is absolutely true that you learn by doing."
From "Around the year with Emmet Fox".
"The miracles of attention and awareness" is that book.
It's a bible of consciousness. Holy ground, 500+.
"Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only..." (James 1:22)

Historia
In modern-day Persia, the 14th-century poet Hafiz remains the most treasured voice of his homeland - a place where his work outsells Rumi, and even the Koran. Yet only recently have Westerners come to know this wild Sufi mystic's astonishing verses on love and spiritual longing. Now, with Hafiz: The Scent of Light, you will join Daniel Ladinsky - the acclaimed translator of The Gift - to revel in more than 30 of Hafiz's most stirring works.

What made the experience of listening to Hafiz: The Scent of Light the most enjoyable?
This is so delightful ! If you're into Sufism, it's going to caress your soul.
The reader has the most beautiful tone of voice. I don't know if it's Daniel Ladinsky or Stevin McNamara, but I didn't notice two narrators. Maybe I'm silly. And the music is so beautiful...
Daniel Ladinsky's rendition of Hafiz... As usual, superb !
This album is more like a meditation, a prayer, in a Sufi way. I've been listening to bits of it while eating spectacular chocolate and drinking great coffee... In silence, with my eyes closed most of the time. My own little beautiful private moment.
The whole encounter is so intimate, just like meditation and prayer are very private personal experiences.
Thank you, Daniel ! So beautiful...
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
All of it.
