Narrator was wonderful, story engaging suspenseful
Revisado: 05-08-23
loved it. nice twist. the author loves the phrase "variations on a theme" she uses it no less than 5 times, but honestly that's the only moment I was taken out of the story, just noting her proclivity for that phrase, kond of funny, just short of annoying. I will definitely seek out this author as well as this narrator.

Historia
One rainy night, the unthinkable happens: Dylan Moran’s car plunges off the road into a raging river, his beautiful wife drowning as he struggles to shore. In the aftermath, through his grief, Dylan experiences sudden, strange visions: wherever he goes, he’s haunted by glimpses of himself. Dylan initially chalks it up to trauma, but that changes when he runs into a psychiatrist who claims he’s her patient. She says he has been undergoing a unique hypnotherapy treatment built on the idea that with every choice, he creates an infinite number of parallel universes.

Wonderful all around. Do yourself a favor and listen!! Thought provoking, creative, memorable, thrilling. well written, terrific narration. I will be listening for a second time! This novel is a gem among uninspired/poorly written/ trope filled thrillers. What a powerful journey I've just been on :)

Wonderfully written and narrated!
Revisado: 04-07-21
Suspenseful and well paced novel (although it was not that hard to decipher who the ultimate culprit was by halfway through, but the writing and narration made finishing a non-brainer). Moving on to my next Tim Adler listen :) Highly recommended.

On a midsummer night, as a festive neighborhood party is taking place, preteen Pip discovers her 13-year-old sister Grace lying unconscious and bloody in a hidden corner of a lush rose garden. What really happened to her?

Hard To Follow, Too Wordy in Unnecessary places
Revisado: 04-03-21
I could not get past the first chapter. Too much going on or not enough going in, I'm not even sure. I just got bored quickly. Narrator was good, but a nice accent does little to carry this story forward quickly enough. Yawnnnnnnn. Try at your own risk.

Bored By Chapter 4
Revisado: 03-10-21
For a thriller, the pace is dreadfully slow and the male narrator whispers whole chapters in an attempt to distinguish characters and perhaps sound sinister, but it just makes it hard to listen to. The storyline seems predictable as far as I could muster to listen. The only redeeming factor is the narrator's excellence.

predictable knew the twist 20 min . did not finish
Revisado: 12-17-20
The writing is decent, narration is excellent, however the plot is such a letdown since it is achingly obvious what the truth is. Yawn. I skipped every chapter except the epilogue to confirm the conclusion I had made in chapter 1.
Kudos to the narrator. But read another true psychological thriller by her, I know I am!
Wish the editor had told the author how much time she wasted with the filler chapters.

Historia
An online video of a girl clawing at the ceiling of her own grave could be the worst thing FBI forensic psychologist Zoe Bentley has ever seen. Perhaps even more disturbing is the implication of the video’s title: “Experiment Number One.” Zoe and her partner, Special Agent Tatum Gray, work as fast as they can to find the monster behind the shocking video, but soon another one shows up online, and another girl turns up dead.

"accent" was unpalatable, turned off after 20 min
Revisado: 11-19-20
I should have trusted the numerous reviewers noting the terrible accent and avoided this, but alas the plot summary and the narrator pulled me in enough to rationalize that only accent snobs care about the "boston" accent that the narrator very clearly struggles with.
I usually love Brittany Presley as narrator To the point of having searched exclusively for thrillers read by her. Her normal narration voice is perfect, but I stopped listening 30 mins in.
Shame, the story premise was promising.
Even though I am not great with identifying accent origins, this is not any accent just a strange mish mosh of australian/irish/sometimescottish/sometimesenglish intonations, which sounded like it was an effort for her to achieve.
Pass on this one, better read in print. SAVE YOUR CREDIT.
I will try to get a credit refund.

Historia
Jane’s days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes - meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven. But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.

Truly Excellent. Seamlessly sinister & amusing
Revisado: 10-15-20
I listen exclusively to mysteries & thrillers, and I have listened to and read approx 200, and this one has been skyrocketed up to my top three, and I am quite hard to please when it comes to this genre after having read/listened to so many.
I also don't write many reviews, just rate n go, but I knew I would have to review this one when I Missed being in the novel once it was over!
This one was a palate cleanser - totally refreshing concept, eerily enlightening, and the writing was just ...well, just go ahead and download this one. Absolutely engrossing from the first to last word.
I will likely listen to it a second time around! which I have only ever done once.
Highly recommend. Wonderfully written, wonderfully narrated.

Beware: Strong Christian/Jesus Talk Seeped In
Revisado: 09-10-20
The writing was wonderful, albeit redundant way too much in covering the same inner monologues ad nauseum. I waited until two thirds of the way in until the resolution seemed too far off to grasp and the Jesus as Salvation agenda became more and more obvious, and personally, off-putting. This book should be categorized as Christian Fiction.
The idea behind the novel holds water, just not the execution as much.
Kind of want my hours back :(
