Liked the storyline but not the characters

I like all of Sandra Browns books including this one but not too crazy about Chase. He seemed cruel & Marci seemed a little unhinged at times with her lifelong obsession with him. He seemed cruel & she had no pride for a woman who has a successful career & is very intelligent.

I don’t consider myself a prude & I liked the story but (in my opinion) there was just way too much cussing (particularly the “F” word) & taking the Lords name in vain!! Just really unnecessary to story. If all her books are like that I may not be reading any more! I guess I am old fashioned.

I don't generally review books but I decided to make this an exception as I don't think I have ever enjoyed a story this much (and I have read & listened to very many). The characters were so real & likable. When Neelie told Lucy that she would adopt her & her baby sister it left me in tears. Next on my schedule is "The Great Escape"! Can't wait to read about Lucy's antics. She is so likable!!! Susan Elizabeth Phillips books never disappoint & leave me happy.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
It started out well but lost something as I got further into the book. Maybe a little too much intrigue for my taste in books. Usually like all of this author's books but disappointed in this one. Took too long for main characters to actually interact.
Would you ever listen to anything by Linda Howard again?
Yes but hopefully not like this book

Someone might enjoy this book if they are just looking for some porn but no real content.

I'm really not sure because I haven't really read or listened too much erotica. If it is like this, I definitely would not be interested.

Even though I am a grandmother in her sixties, I have read my share of some "pretty hot" romance novels but this book put me to sleep. There is no plot or storyline. I made the mistake of buying into all the "hype" & was thoroughly bored & disappointed. Though I would like to know what caused the main male character to be so perverted, I think I will pass on the remainder of the series!!
