I really liked this book. Not that I say it's perfect, but it was fun and whole story got together rather nicely. I would not pass this as it represents this newer way of story telling that is bit like urban fantasy but in sci-fi world. Definitely worth to read.

You don't find clichés in this story. Very, very odd book but extremely enjoyable. You never can go wrong with Scalzi!

Third book and last of the series. It was decent story, with lots of familiar names and Spock. That said, I felt confused at times with all these characters. Most of them not quite reaching their potential. You have Kirks distant relative onboard, who kind of dislikes James T Kirk's legacy, (understandable) but still does not have any interaction with Spock. Which bit amazed me to be honest. No curiousity, no reactions, no nothing from.eitber side.
Story jumped quite a bit to side stories, which made it feel like dragging. I would have hoped that story would have stuck with Prometheus and Klingon vessels more. We kind of understood the going mad from book one already. Also, I personally would have liked USS Valiant have bigger role in this.

Narrator (s) was good. I did not see any big problems. Suited to this story well.

A great story! What happened after Dr. Gillian Taylor vanished? Did anyone missed her?
There's 3 different time lines in this book that are well knitted together. One of the best newer ST TOS books that there is. I do recommend 👍

This is a 3rd book that I have listen from this writer. Captains Oath was good, but this and other one, I can't help but wonder, does the writer have some dislike the characters and specially toward Kirk as he just makes Enterprises crew to be so impotent. He even writes "Kirk had used to lead from the front" but then the actions for Admiral Kirk are just staring? Story in this book is ok, brings closure for TOS episode, but it's bit too long. What bothers me also is that after first conlifct Enterprise just goes home, without checking it more? No investigation? The "new humans" abilities are just left to be?

Narrator did very good job once again.
I hope audible would bring full length recordings from those older TOS books here. Stories are much more better in them.

This clearly was mean to be Uhuras story.It has good potential, but lacks known characteristic behaviour of all characters and there is no solution in the end, which was surprising.

The story jumps between past and present. Sometimes it's hard to keep up, but it is still interesting.

What I love this, is the narrator. I have tried several star trek audiobooks, but Robert Petkoff seems to be the best. Not trying too hard he nails TOS character voices naturally.

Worth to try on

First of all, I like that this book does not try to be Harry Dresden, it's easier to read when it does not compete. Making the main character be mage that sees future and how is he using it is very well written.

Second. Story is good, but still lacks something making it feels two dimensional. For me the main character does not interact with other characters enough. There are also aspects that I would have liked writer to think more. Like names Onyx that was a dark mage or that Aragne the spider. Keeping all names in "ordinary human" world would have kept the story more real and not slipping Harry Potter style on those parts.

Against most of readers, I like the narrator. He does the good job and is one part why I will buy second book.

Slow going and I felt lost

The banter is great first two minutes, but just goes and goes without going anywhere. It's also hard to place where and what is happening. The writer seems to be talented, at least on dialogue. The narrator gave a good performance, but the book wasn't so good.
