another epic installment!

Sarah J Maas nails it again. I laughed, I cried (like a baby) and got totally sucked in AGAIN!! Non stop listened to this audiobook and am hungry for more! I wish I didn't have to wait for the next one, I'm so hopelessly addicted and a year is a long time in the desert with no water ;) I suppose I can just reread the entire series again as well as her other ultra amazing series starring the beautiful Feyre to pass the time... but in all seriousness; this audiobook is worth every cent and I will treasure all of these books for years to come. I am absolutely enthralled with SJM more and more with every book I read. Her unique and clever writing style, the character and world development and most especially her intricate way of weaving a tale and the endless well played twists and turns that often leave surprised tears in my eyes or a giant smile on my face (I'm still smirking about the scene on Rolf's ship with Caleana and that bowl of rubies from the last book!). While I usually appreciate books that give me as much as 5 times more listening hours than other books for the same credit I find that sometimes the books can be too dry, too descriptive or needlessly long but with every single SJM book I feel almost bereft when I'm done, so non existent is the boredom even after nearly 30hrs of listening. I really can't say enough how much I love these books and even though I was hesitant about this one being from different characters POV than the other books and not including Aelin at all, I was very pleasantly surprised with the fact that it fits in very naturally with the series and may be one of the best so far. Highly recommend!! ALL of the thumbs, way up in the air!

A surprisingly good little listen!

I really quite enjoyed this book for a quick listen and because I can't give half stars I bumped it up to a 5 star rating and I don't even feel bad :) I realize it is pretty hard to get a decent story in in under 6 hours and make it believable enough and allow for enough interest in and connection to the characters so I'm always impressed with a book that sucks me in so effortlessly. The story itself was cute, sweet, nose snortingly funny, the characters had nice, clever banter and smexy as hell growls! Lots of heat, some raunchy love making and characters that make me interested in listening to the rest of the series when it comes out...especially the stories of the super hot Alphas with the tortured love histories that we just know is ramping up for a couple of heroine's (or maybe just one!) to come and save them from themselves ;) I also really liked the narration, Jessee does a good job with both the female and male voices and I can tell enough of a difference between them all to know who's thinking or speaking. Worth my credit however I really do prefer a little more bang for my buck, ya know? ;) Having said that, even if future installments are as short I will still get them because these bestie authors did an excellent job sucking me right into their pet project and now I just gotta know what happens for all the rest!

surprising find!

I'll admit straight up that I didn't have high hopes for this series as a paragon of quality and literary genius, moreso I got it impulsively because the premise sounded hot and I was in the mood for a quick naughty listen ;) the kind that doesnt take a lot of brain power and you can multitask doing laundry, mowing the lawn or just relax while enjoying. Instead I was surprised to find that I really, really like this series! I found the writing cheeky, cute, and ya a little cheesy but these short little books are meant to be that way - you have to sacrifice a tonne of character building and emotional ties to get it short like that and so the dynamic can bd a little strange or unrealistic. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor, the possessive alpha yumminess of the men, the slighty odd but oddly very enjoyable toy play and all day sexy 'prep' work (one word - ticklers!). I'm a big fan of this narrator and look for her stuff specifically to download - I guess I just like the way she speaks - her inflection and mannerisms are pleasing to the ear and her male voices are smexy and growly enough, whether she is technically great or not being of little consequence here I think! I gave it a fun five stars, I reread the series and plan on doing so several more times - well worth the credit!

too much reiterating previous books

These books are only under 10hrs each and I am really annoyed with how much of that time is spent re-explaining previous books and information that is well understood and pretending the reader hasn't read any of the other books. It makes it dry and long winded to listen to and I find there isn't enough actual action, just her coming to terms with everything all the time. I don't like spending credits on short books as is much less 4 of them and especially if half of it is wasted with previously written material regurgitated. I wish there was more romance or close relationships - the heat is too fleeting and far between to get me interested in it and not a single true friend or anything for me to even invest in. Not sure if I'll bother to waste another credit on the last book...I kind of feel like it's a poker game and I'm already invested enough in the hand that I want to see it through but know I'll likely come out just that much poorer and am a fool for not cutting my losses now ;)

So-so on the narrator

The main character narration *almost* completely ruined this book for me. Maybe it was just me but I couldn't connect the voice with the character description and it bothered me constantly. I found it very distracting but am planning on continuing the series to see if it improves (:

So glad I read the 2nd book!

I am really glad I stuck out some minor annoyances and read the second book. Absolutely love the world the author created - especially the Night Court. Nice twists, seriously Wow! I was shocked by the 'ending' and the intracies weaved into the plot and so now I am awaiting a 3rd book in 2017 (hopefully?) with baited breath.
