Historia
Bayr of Saylok, bastard son of a powerful and jealous chieftain, is haunted by the curse once leveled by his dying mother. Bartered, abandoned, and rarely loved, she plagued the land with her words: From this day forward, there will be no daughters in Saylok. Raised among the Keepers at Temple Hill, Bayr is gifted with inhuman strength. But he’s also blessed with an all-too-human heart that beats with one purpose: to protect Alba, the first girl child born in nearly two decades and the salvation for a country at risk.

Love the Author, Great Story
Revisado: 07-30-22
I love all of Amy Harmon's books and Rob Shapiro is a great narrator. I really love when Amy Harmon branches out into the fantasy genre, which she doesn't do often. This book was a great read and the storyline was interesting and held my attention but I can't say it was my favorite of her books.

Historia
She took two more steps and paused - squeezed her eyes tightly shut - and Ember gasped as she looked forward up the shore to see a man struggling in the water. He was coughing - spitting water from his mouth as he crawled from the water and onto the sand. As he collapsed face-down on the shore, Ember lifted her skirt and ran toward the man, dropping to her knees beside him.

Great Story, Terrible Narration
Revisado: 07-30-22
I know the author narrated her own story but it was painful to listen too. It was like she was reading a script. I liked the story and would read this again in book format but I would not listen.

Such a great listen as I couldn't put it down. This 2nd book delves more into the story line and definitely had me coming back for more. I have listened to it 3 times completely through and plan on listening again
The characters are well developed. I love the plot, Asian culture and mythology slow romance.

Historia
Nature's a fickle thing. When four days of rain occur earlier in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice to trap Jane and Elizabeth Bennet at Netherfield Park, new romances, misunderstandings, and alignments are made. Volatile tempers never did well cooped up together. Not even when there's a chessboard to help pass the time. Fall in love with the romance of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet all over again in this new variation by author Elizabeth Ann West.

An OK Pride and Prejudice Variation
Revisado: 07-30-22
I enjoyed this take on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, although I wasn't thrilled with the various voices of the narrator for the men.
The plot was interesting and it definitely kept my attention. I listened to the end but I probably will not read this book again.
A clean, regency romance.
