Historia
Hardly a day goes by when nine-year-old Laurent Lepage doesn't cry wolf. From alien invasions to walking trees to winged beasts in the woods to dinosaurs spotted in the village of Three Pines, his tales are so extraordinary no one can possibly believe him. Including Armand and Reine-Marie Gamache, who now live in the little Quebec village.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

Boring Boring Boring
Revisado: 10-16-19
This book, as far as I got, was a pre-teen "love" story with lots of descriptions for passionate-yet chaste passionate kisses and hugs. Little about real people. Gave up after a couple of hours because it didn't get any better.

Eleanor Murray will always remember her childhood on Edisto Island, where her late father, a local shrimper, shared her passion for music. Now her memories of him are all that tempers the guilt she feels over the accident that put her sister in a wheelchair and the feelings she harbors for her sister's husband. To help support her sister, Eleanor works at a Charleston investment firm during the day, but she escapes into her music, playing piano at a neighborhood bar. Until the night her enigmatic boss walks in and offers her a part-time job caring for his elderly aunt, Helena, back on Edisto.

Overall I liked the book
Revisado: 07-02-19
The readers were wonderful and the story line's suspense was good. My only real criticism was the way Ms. White portraited the child. Ms. White must not have spent much time with 10-year-old girls. I understand the girl had been very ill when she was four and maybe physically small for her age but Ms. White made her the same size as when she was four, as in the scene where she runs to Eleanor for comfort and picked up and comforted like a baby. Also, ten-year old girls are very sophisticated especially now with the internet/twitter and other technical gadgets or programs. The behavior/mannerism given GeGe were that of a five or six-year-old.

Historia
The occasion was a big birthday. And it inspired two close friends to get together in Dharamsala for a talk about something very important to them. The friends were His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The subject was joy. Both winners of the Nobel Prize, both great spiritual masters and moral leaders of our time, they are also known for being among the most infectiously happy people on the planet.

Disappointed by the format
Revisado: 07-06-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
More actual words/thoughts from the Dalai Lama and Bishop Tutu. I have not finished listening to the book because I am going to return it. It was disappointing that the conversations were "read" by actors and not the Dali Lama and Bishop Tutu. What was more disappointing was the long passages by Mr. Abrams that were not about the conversations between the Dalai Lama and Bishop Tutu. Instead, Mr. Abrams talked about studies by social scientist or psychologists, related to meditation, joy, or other issues or gave history lessons. I wanted to hear what the Dalia Lama and Bishop Tutu had to say.
What could the authors have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Used the recordings of the actual participants, the Dalai Lama and Bishop Tutu. If that was not possible, stuck to their conversations and not added extraneous information.
What didn’t you like about Douglas Carlton Abrams and full cast ’s performance?
See above comments.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
When the actors actually spoke the actual words (I hope) of Bishop Tutu and the Dalia Lama.

Historia
Filled with breathtaking scenes, the elemental north woods, the sweep of seasons, an iconic American barn, a fateful vision rendered in the falling rain. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle is a meditation on the limits of language and what lies beyond, a brilliantly inventive retelling of an ancient story, and an epic tale of devotion, betrayal, and courage in the American heartland.

I enjoyed this book, hating to get out of the car and stop listening, until the end. The ending was the worst I have read (listened to) in decades.

Historia
Happily retired in the village of Three Pines, Armand Gamache, former Chief Inspector of Homicide with the Sûreté du Québec, has found a peace he'd only imagined possible. On warm summer mornings he sits on a bench holding a small book, The Balm in Gilead, in his large hands. "There is a balm in Gilead," his neighbor Clara Morrow reads from the dust jacket, "to make the wounded whole." While Gamache doesn't talk about his wounds and his balm, Clara tells him about hers. Peter, her artist husband, has failed to come home. Failed to show up as promised on the first anniversary of their separation. She wants Gamache's help to find him. Having finally found sanctuary, Gamache feels a near revulsion at the thought of leaving Three Pines. "There’s power enough in Heaven," he finishes the quote as he contemplates the quiet village, "to cure a sin-sick soul." And then he gets up. And joins her.

Another winner from Ms. Perry
Revisado: 10-10-14
Would you listen to The Long Way Home again? Why?
Yes, it a year or so when I have forgotten the details
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. Ms. Perry has the ability to suddenly add new information or move in a different direction which makes you "rethink" what the solution will be. At the same time, she does not come to the solution at the end of the book that could not be thought out (no surprise without proper information).
What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
HIs slight change of voices with each character and pronouncing the French helps bring the them to life. He reads with speed and inflection in his voice that is just right-one of the best readers to whom I have listened.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Don't want to see it as a film.
Any additional comments?
I usually read only two or three books in a series because after that it becomes to improbable that main characters can't possibly been shot that much or "discovered" a body so often. At one point, I thought I would stop reading the series because it was unbelievable that so many deaths could happen in such a small village and among so few people. Once this new one came out, however, I found myself drawn in again.
