Historia
Journalist and author Oliver Burkeman is well-known for his long-running Guardian column, 'How to Change Your Life', and has written three best-selling books on happiness, productivity and time management. In this radio collection, he looks at four central ills of modernity—busyness, anger, the insistence on positivity and the decline of nuance. Talking to a range of experts, he discovers how these problems became so widespread, and how we can go about tackling them.

An interesting and nuanced look at four modern problems
Revisado: 01-22-25
More of a radio program than an audio book, but the interview format makes it interesting and fun to listen to.

Historia
We are constantly being formed by the world around us. To be formed by Jesus will require us to become his apprentice. To live by what the first Christian disciples called a Rule of Life—a set of practices and relational rhythms that slow us down and open up space in our daily lives for God to do what only God can do—transforms the deepest parts of us to become like him.

A great overview of spiritual formation
Revisado: 03-26-24
Comer synthesizes the thoughts of luminaries such as Dallas Willard and presents a compelling model for adopting the way of Jesus within modern urban environments. He calls the reader to a deeply committed, disciplined, and intense relationship with God, but does so with a gentle, gracious, and non condemning spirit.

Historia
Throughout human history, certain drinks have done much more than just quench thirst. As Tom Standage relates with authority and charm, six of them have had a surprisingly pervasive influence on the course of history, becoming the defining drink during a pivotal historical period. A History of the World in 6 Glasses tells the story of humanity from the Stone Age to the 21st century through the lens of beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and cola.

Cheers!
Revisado: 10-13-23
A fascinating history of the world’s most drunk liquid refreshments and the cultures that they shaped and are indicative of. No more Industrial Revolution, from now on it’s the age of tea!🫖 There’s a good bit of social history and anecdotal stories, but also a focus on empire and economy suitable to a writer for “The Economist.” It was never dull once.

Historia
In this remarkable recording, C. S. Lewis shows why millions of readers have acclaimed him the greatest spokesman for Christianity in the 20th century. In a resonant, baritone voice, Lewis explores the nature of the four Greek words that are translated love in English: storge (affection), philia (friendship), eros (sexual or romantic love) and agape (selfless love).

The man, himself
Revisado: 06-01-23
It is a treat and a treasure to listen to the only professional recording of C. S. Lewis’ voice that exists. Lewis provides thorough and enlightening understandings of each of the Greek words for “love” that will transform the way you understand how they work in your own life. I know of no better description of friendship than the one he offers here.

Historia
When Christians share their faith, they often appeal to reason, logic, and the truth of doctrine. But these tactics often are not effective. A better approach to spread Christ's word, Dallas Willard suggests, is to use the example of our own lives. To demonstrate Jesus's message, we must be transformed people living out a life reflective of Jesus himself, a life of love, humility, and gentleness.

Apologetics as discipleship
Revisado: 05-24-23
This is apologetics as the reasonable outworking of a life together with God rather than techniques or answers to common questions. It is one of the best and most holistic books on the topic I know, aiming for knowledge and understanding and not merely trying to get the reader to do apologetics.

Reframing reality
Revisado: 05-09-23
The last words of an incredible philosopher, theologian, and, most of all, disciple, Willard presents a consistent and coherent view of the reality of God and the Kingdom of the Heavens that is not quite like anyone else I know.
