Historia
They have always scared him in the past - the Rangers, with their dark cloaks and shadowy ways. The villagers believe the Rangers practice magic that makes them invisible to ordinary people. And now 15-year-old Will, always small for his age, has been chosen as a Ranger's apprentice. What he doesn't yet realize is that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom. Highly trained in the skills of battle and surveillance, they fight the battles before the battles reach the people. And as Will is about to learn, there is a large battle brewing.

Historia
Like a well-crafted stage play, Just Passin' Thru delivers one suspenseful scene after another. But in this historic setting a store on the Appalachian Trail called Mountain Crossings the characters who show up are no fictional creations. Like any good drama, there are the good guys (and gals) and the weirdos, too. Some show up once (and that’s enough), and some appear again and again. But all are united by two things: the author’s story-capturing talent, and whatever it is that lures them to attempt (or conquer) a 2,200-mile path that climbs and plummets from Georgia to Maine.

Great book!

This was my first AT book...have now read 4 and loved every one....will stop since reviews of others are not so great and I'm a bit "hiked" out.......great intro to the Trail and the start in Georgia....very detailed and interesting since this is the big deal for the early Northbound hikers to change their gear, drop some weight and talk about how that first 30 miles or so has been...really enjoyed it.....a good basis for other Trail hikers' experiences.

Historia
An experience of soul-reviving simplicity, forged in a 2,185 mile journey through the last remnants of the eastern forest. Follow the adventures of five accidental companions from north to south, from strangers to brothers, as they battle, survive, and laugh their way up and over the mountains of the Appalachian Trail. Leaving the comforts of the civilized world behind, these unlikely friends rediscover the simple pleasures of life and, through hardship, find the essential joy of fellowship.

Appalachian Trail ...personal history
Revisado: 07-23-18
Of late my interest has been in the AT hikers....this fellow did the hardest hike...starting in Maine and ending in Georgia vs. the opposite which is much more often done since it is an easier beginning. His take on the Trail and his fellow hikers is not only interesting but certainly very real.....having read the reviews on the other AT books, I have chosen to only read 4, this was my third ......definitely gave me a sense, only a sense, but of being there....what an accomplishment, loved his attitude!

Historia
This is a terrific audiobook. It's interesting, well-written, and timely. It's the story of a textbook editor who retires, reads the popular book The Wild Effect and decides to hike the Appalachian Trail - and have an unexpected adventure! The tone is wry humor, tongue in cheek - the author has a great sense of humor, is perky, and as she learns in this adventure, is often in over her head! She is a very likeable character.

Appalachian Trail ...personal memoirs
Revisado: 07-23-18
Loved this book....lived near the AT in the East for first 32 years of life and always loved the short hikes....for someone to try to take on 2200 miles is fascinating. JC is within a few years of my age and I wanted not only an older hiker's thoughts but also a woman's point of view...was not disappointed....was sad to get to the end!
