Historia
At once profoundly personal and far-reaching, Exit Interview with My Grandmother serves as a meditation on the beginning of a young woman’s life and the series of questions that arise from examining love, loss, family, memory, and death. Moving between cities and centuries, Meyersohn probes her family's Jewish history and her grandparents' relationships in part to decipher her own young queer relationships, but also to examine how we ought to behave in the face of a world riddled with uncertainty and doubt.

Historia
The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires. Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard. Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival.

Historia
This hilarious, heartfelt, and soaring adventure will delight fans of The Goonies and Indiana Jones. Performed as a 1930s radio drama, it’s bursting with humor for all ages, orchestral scoring, and some of the most talented voices on Broadway. When their ace pilot parents (and adorable puppy) mysteriously disappear over the Pacific, the Flamingo Sisters - Flo, Faye, and Franny - escape the clutches of their evil Uncle Freidrich (who believes girls should never pilot aeroplanes) and join a flying circus.

Science fiction allows us to go places we can only dream of seeing - other worlds, distant stars, entirely different galaxies. While not every story is concerned with the hard science behind space travel and other futuristic ventures, fiction can give us amazing insight into what we could be capable of and what we dream of doing. In these 10 lectures, Professor Erin Macdonald interweaves real science and the achievements of the imagination to reveal the truth that underlies our favorite stories and sheds light on what the future may hold.

Can you imagine writing to Father Christmas and actually getting a reply? Every year, the children of J.R.R. Tolkien would write to Father Christmas, and the letters they received told wonderful stories of his adventures at the North Pole. These humorous tales are brought to life by Derek Jacobi as Father Christmas, John Moffatt as Polar Bear, and Christian Rodska as Ilbereth the Elf, complete with specially composed music.

Revisado: 02-07-20
I got this book based on the very favorable reviews I read on Audible, but it just didn't do it for me. I listened with my four children (ages 4-11yrs) and none of us ever really got into the stories. I don't know if there are illustrations that go with the physical copies of the book. If there are that might help engage us more, but overall it was just okay.

Historia
This is not a fairy tale. This is about real witches. Grandmamma loves to tell about witches. Real witches are the most dangerous of all living creatures on Earth. There's nothing they hate so much as children, and they work all kinds of terrifying spells to get rid of them. Her grandson listens closely to Grandmamma's stories - but nothing can prepare him for the day he comes face-to-face with The Grand High Witch herself!

What's not to like
Revisado: 02-07-20
Based on others' reviews of the narration I almost didn't get this book. Glad I threw caution to the wind in favor of a story I know and love. I didn't find the voice of the high witch to be unbearable. It isn't easy to understand, but it isn't supposed to be clear since the high witch is supposed to have a heavy accent. Even if the voice does bother you, you'll only have to listen to it for a brief portion once in the book. Great story and good narration. My kids also give it high marks. My kids did ask me to read the high witch's part from the book and of course I tried to put as much gusto and accent into it as the narrator did, but they did stop me and ask questions. I would listen again!

Historia
In an ancient land in a time foretold by prophets, a babe was born beneath a shining star. Thirty years later, Jesus of Nazareth began teaching a message of hope, peace, and love. He claimed to be the Son of God, and his words - and his life - would change the world. Though David ben Joseph is quick to accept Jesus as the Messiah, the rest of his family is more cautious.

great story and insights
Revisado: 05-06-19
Lund's insights into the culture and story of Christ's ministry and life are very interesting and give deeper meaning to my personal study of the bible. I listened to this with my wife and young children while studying the New Testament and it's a great companion to bring the Bible to life.
At first I wasn't sure I liked the performance, but after an hour or so he had brought the characters to life for us and though his deep voice probably isn't great for female characters it ended up working for my immersion into the story and people.
I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series.

Historia
Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

my children really enjoyed it
Revisado: 12-30-18
We enjoy listening to books as a family. It all started with the Harry Potter series. Percy Jackson was enjoyable for the whole family. The narrator has a youthful voice (dunno if he's actually young), but I think that added to our connection to the story. We look forward to listening to more in this series.

Historia
In this wholly original audiobook, biologist David Haskell uses a one-square-meter patch of old-growth Tennessee forest as a window into the entire natural world. Visiting it almost daily for one year to trace nature's path through the seasons, he brings the forest and its inhabitants to vivid life. Each of this audiobook's short chapters begins with a simple observation: a salamander scuttling across the leaf litter; the first blossom of spring wildflowers.

Historia
The human reaction to insects is neither purely biological nor simply cultural. And no one reacts to insects with indifference. Insects frighten, disgust, and fascinate us. Jeff Lockwood explores this phenomenon through evolutionary science, human history, and contemporary psychology, as well as a debilitating bout with entomophobia in his work as an entomologist. Exploring the nature of anxiety and phobia, Lockwood explores the lively debate about how much of our fear of insects can be attributed to ancestral predisposition for our own survival and how much is learned through individual experiences.

Revisado: 08-31-16
I enjoyed listening to this book on my rather long commute. As a budding entomologist who works closely with the public I found the insight provided to be helpful in understanding the reactions I have seen during outreach events and even some of my own emotions. The narration by Jack Marshall was a bit Bill Shatner-like but considering the material I think he did very well in presenting information that could be a bit dry at times.
