Incredibly difficult to assemble. I would have purchased another brand had I known it would be one step above impossible to get through the first step.

I agree with other listeners on the poor narration job but the real disappointment was the book itself. Not typical Grisham—the story was so far fetched, both female characters were highly unlikeable and overall the plot didn’t make sense.
The last 40 minutes was literally a recap of the entire story, saying the same thing over and over. I was glad when this book ended.
Grisham is my favorite author and I’ll continue to read everything he writes. Please bring Michael Beck back on your next novel Mr. Grisham 🙏🏻

I love all of Lucy Dawson’s books but this one, not so much. Why? I hated the main character bc unlike the rest of her main characters in other books, she was weak and well, dumb. Like, so unintelligent. It reminded me of the main character from the 50 shades series: who I LOATHED.

I loved the story and the characters. My only issue was the narrator. She often whispered so low that I couldn’t hear it. I missed a few parts of the book because of this.

I love thrillers but this was a little TOO dark for me. Not one of the characters were likeable so there was no one to root for.
I actually was looking forward to it ending. The last paragraph was pretty cool though.

Predictable and cheesy

The story line was simply OK because I felt like I’ve read it before. In other books. With similar story lines. The romance/love affair between Gideon and Daisy was so incredibly cheesy I caught myself rolling my eyes often. And the sexual encounter accounts were just unnecessary. I mean, is this book trying to be a romance novel?
Overall I was ready for the story to be done. And I wouldn’t read anything else by this author. Sorry.

The chapters, the ENDLESS chapters, on the war ruined the whole book. Not typical Grisham at all. The end was predictable too. I’ve read all of Grisham’s novels and I enjoyed this one the least.
Michael Beck was brilliant as usual.
