Historia
The origin story of the post-truth age: the candid inside tale of two online media rivals, Nick Denton of Gawker Media and Jonah Peretti of HuffPost and BuzzFeed, whose delirious pursuit of attention at scale helped release the dark forces that would overtake the internet and American society.

WHY THIS NARRATOR??
Revisado: 05-15-23
Great story, well written, but AS ALWAYS an atrocious narrator. Like, come on Audible. Up the narrator game!!

Historia
From Andre Agassi, one of the most beloved athletes in history and one of the most gifted men ever to step onto a tennis court, a beautiful, haunting autobiography. Agassi brings a near-photographic memory to every pivotal match and every relationship. Never before has the inner game of tennis and the outer game of fame been so precisely limned. In clear, taut prose, Agassi evokes his loyal brother, his wise coach, his gentle trainer, all the people who help him regain his balance and find love at last with Stefanie Graf.

Loved the story, the narrator is atrocious
Revisado: 01-28-23
Audible, I need you to listen. PLEASE. PLEASE. LISTEN. I love listening to audiobooks, but I am continually floored at how robotic, awkward, and strange your narrators are. I understand that perhaps Mr. Agassi didn’t want to narrate this, but would it have really been so hard to find someone to read this excellent (and really well-written) story who has normal human inflection and doesn’t do bizarre, completely ridiculous “impressions” of major characters. Apart from his truly horrendous reading, I squirmed each time the narrator would try to speak like Gill, Brad, or—god forbid—any woman who has the true misfortune of having her voice portrayed as if by a school child on a playground. I have listened to so many audiobooks, and I want to start a petition to have the actual authors tell their stories. If that isn’t possible, can’t you hire an actual actor? I barely, if ever, write reviews but the performance of this otherwise great book was so grating, so irritating, so bewildering, that I found myself chomping at the bit for it to be over so I could let it rip. PLEASEEEE do better. This book deserves a far better reader than whoever I’ve had the displeasure of listening to for the last 2 weeks.

Historia
The inside story of the four years when Donald Trump went to war with Washington, from the chaotic beginning to the violent finale, told by revered journalists Peter Baker of The New York Times and Susan Glasser of The New Yorker—an ambitious and lasting history of the full Trump presidency that also contains dozens of exclusive scoops and stories from behind the scenes in the White House, from the absurd to the deadly serious.

Excellent
Revisado: 10-02-22
An excellent recounting of the Trump administration. Authoritative and comprehensive, among the best (among with Bob Woodward’s books) of this kind of story. My only complaint is the narrator — why do they all speak like weird robots??

Brilliant!
Revisado: 03-27-22
This was a truly captivating coming-of-age story, brilliantly told by the author. Candace is a flawed—and completely human—protagonist, and regardless of whether you know anything about K-pop (I admittedly did not) the themes and characters will resonate.
The story arc was crisp and teeming with tension, and the author vividly paints each of the characters—warts and all.
I can’t wait for the sequel and for whatever works Stephan Lee publishes in the future. I’m a super fan for life!!

Historia
Angela Merkel has always been an outsider. A pastor’s daughter raised in Soviet-controlled East Germany, she spent her twenties working as a research chemist, entering politics only after the fall of the Berlin Wall. And yet within fifteen years, she had become chancellor of Germany and, before long, the unofficial leader of the West. In this “masterpiece of discernment and insight” (The New York Times Book Review), acclaimed biographer Kati Marton sets out to pierce the mystery of Merkel’s unlikely ascent.

Excellent bio of Merkel

Connects her upbringing to her remarkable run as Chancellor and walks through how her worldview was shaped and influenced by growing up in East Germany.
