Irritating narrator

I love the value of all 3 books together and it’s a lovely story, but the narrator made the younger children rather irritating. Most small children don’t talk so slowly or so high pitched, especially Jane.

I can usually get though lots of exposition but the story never seemed to be getting anywhere. I finally gave up in disgust
