It’s ok.
Revisado: 09-01-24
The first 22+ chapters were so boring. Characters lacked realism and conversations were meaningless. Once the story wove the characters together, then it did become more engaging. I thought the plot itself was good, but the writing needed more development.

Historia
Late one summer evening, antiquarian bookseller Adam Snow is returning from a client visit when he takes a wrong turn. He stumbles across a derelict Edwardian house, and compelled by curiosity, approaches the door. Standing before the entrance, he feels the unmistakable sensation of a small cold hand creeping into his own, ‘as if a child had taken hold of it’. At first he is merely puzzled by the odd incident but then begins to suffer attacks of fear and panic, and is visited by nightmares.

Love everything about this story!
Revisado: 04-24-24
Excellent writing and narration. Susan Hill’s atmospheric descriptions are exquisite. This is the second book I’ve listened by her, and it satisfies the thirst for Victorian style gothics. The narrator is fantastic with tone, pace, and clarity. His voice as different genders is seamless and not at all distracting. I especially love the one as an old woman. Lol

Absolutely Enchanting!
Revisado: 08-09-23
Travelogue, alchemy, history… This beautifully written book conjures up a sense of wonder and timelessness. It’s like reading all my favorite parts in a novel except that the captivating descriptions are all real. It stirs up the imagination like Tales from the Alhambra by Washington Irving. The translation and narration are excellent.
