Historia
Lucille Abbey runs her London secretarial agency with utmost efficiency. When, therefore, a certain Professor Hallam rejects three girls sent by her to apply for the post of his secretary and they each pronounce him "impossible", Lucille herself sets out to interview the Professor at his home in Hampshire. He is, she finds, eccentric—even impossible; but he represents a challenge and, what is more, an excuse to delay what promises to be a trying holiday in Paris. She stays on to tame and to organize him—a less formidable task than she had imagined; in fact, she grows fond of him.

Thoroughly pleasant enjoyable listen to. I enjoyed every minute in the country and in Paris. The narrator Helen Taylor brought the story to life. I’m new to this author but will be reading and listening to more of her stories.

Historia
The rich history of Pulp stories are pure Americana. Written like a script from Film Noir movie, you are to be transported to a time in the 30's, 40's or 50's, where the liquor flowed freely and there was always a Crosley radio playing in some room off in the distance. Pulp Noir is more about a small slice or life...and usually a dark one.... Pour yourself a nice warm drink, dim the lights...conjure up in your consciousness; Femme Fatales, handguns, seedy bars, bad luck, thieves, scoundrels, a pack of Pall Mall's, low lighting, and definitely everything in glorious black and white.

This little book answers so many of my questions. I've listened to it 3x's and because its only an hour or so long I can quickly search info I want to go back over. If I used bookmarks the whole audiobook would be marked. This takes the mystery out of Cannabis and Hemp. Thanks for this audiobook.

From Cape Cod with Love?
Revisado: 10-02-18
Coming from the bayside of Cape Cod, I know the area well. A nice relaxing vacation, a treasure hunter, fried clams and a flying corvette?? Great way to haul you into the beginning of this mystery. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. The narrator was excellent in his voice distinctions for the characters. Loved the entire storyline, young love, star-crossed lovers, murder, lunacy. Every so often a twinge of sadness as something recalled to Gus, the loss of his old dog.
I'll have to play catch up from the beginning of this series. It sort of reads like a Spenser, or Brady Coyne or JW Jackson novel. A story about someone you may already know.

Can't put this one down!!!
Revisado: 07-28-18
This book is phenomenal.
It is about a very old country estate and a very young girl advancing through the years of the 20th century. The house has been in the Talbot family for over 300 years. None of the much older siblings want anything to do with the crumbling mansion. It is left to Evelyn to care for it and love it, often with very little money or support from her brothers. She becomes reclusive and fearful of the outside world. When the house is opened during the war years, she is required to let the world in.
Depravity and brutality as well as kindness and love all combine to form the young innocent girl into the strong woman she becomes.
This was a book I couldn't stop listening to and didn't want it to end.
The narrator, Danielle Cohen had the perfect voice for this story. Sweetness, desperation, fear and longing all came through in her voice.
I want to thank Allie Cresswell for allowing me to listen to this wonderful story.

Loved everything about this!!
Revisado: 05-22-18
The story and narrations were perfect together. Loved the psychic dog portrayal and the learning curve Zack had to go on. loved the back and forth of "I'll get back to this later..." It was like a good buddy telling you a great story. And about those swear words--There were apologies extended to the affronted characters, and really this was banter among friends. Can't wait for the next!

I really liked the storyline. It was quirky. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and had a hard time following it. I think I would have been better reading it. The narrator was fine. I could tell the different characters by the tone of her voice.
