In 1968 James T. Gillam was a poorly focused college student at Ohio University who was dismissed and then drafted into the Army. Unlike most African-Americans who entered the Army then, he became a Sergeant and an instructor at the Fort McClellan Alabama School of Infantry.

Very well written

It doesn't get much more real than this book. It tells a story of the real brutality of war and the hard changes of coming home and trying to re acclimate to society. Very good book.

Very informative

Once I started it I didn't want to stop listening. It is a look into the personal and professional life of a man with no emotions or guilt of the crimes he committed. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to know more about such a tragic place in history and the man behind it.
