This story just didn’t hit the buttons for me. The first 10 or so chapters was just way too weird, had a hard time not zoning out. Probably would have enjoyed it a lot more 20 or 40 years ago! Just not a 60’s something book.

Too much sex

I never thought that I would say it, but there was so much sex, that it dulled the story! While I like a spicy book, there really can be too much.

On a positive note, the narrators did a fantastic job. While I ended up speeding the book through the sex when it was getting boring with it, I had to keep listening to find out how the evil queen was defeated. You could almost see the fear in the evil queen’s eyes!!

No HEA

There wasn’t any resounding point to this story. It was nothing more than sex and whippings for the most part. The ending was rushed to end the book. Karen just went into Stockholm syndrome.

Good story, need different narrator

The story was interesting and a really good love story I had a VERY hard time with the narration though. As the female voice, I loved her but I often couldn’t tell if it was female or male character speaking, no diffraction.

Confusing

This story jumped around between past and present in such a way that it left you confused as to where you are in the time line.

I’ve heard this narrator in other books and he was fantastic. Not so with this book. His female voices drove me batty and with the cast primarily female, it would have been better to get a female to do the 7 or 8 female voices and 3 male voices since they didn’t talk all that much compared to the females.

This was more like one book contained, not three stand alone stories.

Good story, horrid narration

I had a really rough time listening to Dracula telling a vampire story. If he does any future books, his performance is so bad that I will skip that book.

Can’t finish. Love it or hate it book.

As I said in the title, it’s a love or hate it book. I usually finish a book even if I don’t like it, but I’m not wasting 13 hours on this. I listen to books while driving; which I do a lot. Practically live in my car—this would make me fall asleep it’s so boring!

This book DRAGS on forever!

This book dragged on for for so long I often got drowsy listening to it. It was about 19 hours longer than it had to be. If you like books that give you the descriptions of every single little detail, this is your book.

Of all the deaths of the crew, two of them were a surprise, I had thought they would live.

The narrator did a great job but I doubt I will buy another book from this author, I like my audio books when I am driving and this one is NOT something to listen to while driving!

A one day book

This book started off a bit slow but it was not so slow as to make me regret buying it.

The family dynamic was good although I really wanted to smack the wife upside the back of the head Gibbs style when she kept harping at her husband about the unsolicited kiss from his coworker.

Least favorite part of the book was the car accident. Just didn’t seem right.

Was also hoping for an epilogue but overall the happish ending was good.

For the most part the narrator did a good job but a few times the voice he used for the daughter was completely goofy, it was reflective of a ditz instead of a person who tapped into their inner strength.

This is a detail oriented book, personally the details made the story come to life at a deeper level for me but I can see where folks who like a lot of back to back action might get a little frustrated with it.

Started this book and listened to it till it finished in one session so the slow spots weren’t too bad!

Narrator was all wrong for this particular book.

This book was interesting but I had a really hard time with the narration. Some men can carry off doing a female voice but this one, no, he has a wonderful voice for the right style of book, this wasn’t it and it really messed with the enjoyment of this story.

As far as the story goes...I still don’t know who or how the shadow came to be. That part must have been deleted by the editor! Grrr. Or, may have missed that part during the many times my mind wandered while thinking how wrong this narrator was for this style of book.

It would have been nice to find out what happened to the participants from the year before that started the entire process for Payton on the Oklahoma side of things. That’s a hole in the story.
