This is a masterpiece of literature. So much depth and meaning but you don’t have to understand it all in order to enjoy it. It is fascinating.

A lot of people have told be that the count of monte cristo is a great book. And although I like parts of it and it ends on a happy note, I don’t like it a lot. It is horrible the vengeance the Count enacts on people. Although some of them had wronged him, he brought pain to a lot of innocent people. And he does repent in the end, but the damage has been done.

The book is written very well and I like that. But it is so longggggg.

The narrator is wonderful. Each character has its own distinct voice, and I love that he could pronounce all the French, Italian, and Spanish names.

Over all there were some pluses but the story is still not my favorite.

Amazing

I love all of Gene Stratton Porter’s books. They some of the best books ever; I read a lot of books and these are the best.

I loved the plot, the characters, and every thing else.
-The story was very well built and as all of her books are very sweet and wholesome.
-The whole family was lovable and caring, they all helped each other.


About one of the other reviews, the blue goose ( peacock ) did die but it was not gruesome.
Yes, the girl almost died, but she agreed wholeheartedly. They were being silly and wanted to see how it felt to die. I will note that they are silly very often, that was the only time they acted like that.
I could hear the pages turn on occasion, but not very often and it did not matter because the story was so good. I think the narrater did great and had great voices.

I would encourage getting this book.

The interwoven stories of the characters lives and the music throughout made this such a lovely audiobook. I look forward to listening to it again with my children.

If you could sum up The Green Ember in three words, what would they be?

This book was fantastic and had the kids and me always eager to hear what happened next. The presentation of good and evil and the hope of the Mended Wood were lovely. I am certain we will listen to it again and we cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
