Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Fantastic

This is a fantastic story, and the narration made it even better. This is definitely in the top three audiobooks I’ve ever had a letter of listening to.

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of....

Lots of twists but unbelievable finish
Revisado: 11-12-23
This was a very good story, with lots of twists and turns. You definitely are left guessing up until the end. The problem is, well, the end. It is simply not remotely feasible that things would wrap up as easily as they did, even in a world with the ridiculous amount of power and privilege that these people lived in. I was left feeling disappointed overall.

Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

Great mystery, well narrated
Revisado: 12-28-22
I enjoyed this mystery. The story itself is well written, full of detail that is helpful for placing the reader in the story. Character development was great and the character’s actions were believable. The plot had several twists that I didn’t see coming. This story held my interest to the end.

Historia
Jacob Finch Bonner was once a promising young novelist with a respectably published first book. Today, he’s teaching in a third-rate MFA program and struggling to maintain what’s left of his self-respect; he hasn’t written—let alone published—anything decent in years. When Evan Parker, his most arrogant student, announces he doesn’t need Jake’s help because the plot of his book in progress is a sure thing, Jake is prepared to dismiss the boast as typical amateur narcissism. But then...he hears the plot.

Good story but horrible reader
Revisado: 06-27-22
This is an audiobook that might be a good read, however the audiobook is pretty much wrecked by thevhorrid narration. The reader sounds robotic and simply reass each word in a monotone. Buy the actual book, not the audio.

Great idea, okay story
Revisado: 01-03-22
This book starts out strong, and the plot is interesting. Unfortunately, it begins to drag a bit about 1/3 of the way through. I’d thought it was a historical fiction novel and although there is some historical perspective of the Keys (and particularly Key West) during the depression era, this was given a light touch. Ultimately the book is best classified as a romance..girl meets two boys, girl struggles to choose, girl chooses good boy, dramatic event happens, girl and boy live happily ever after.

Wonderful and enchanting read
Revisado: 12-08-21
This is a wonderful book, and the narration fits perfectly. In this work of historical fiction, O’Farrell imagines what might have occurred in the life of Shakespeare’s wife and children. The story is told primarily from the perspective of his wife, and it is truly magnificent. Feral switches

Great overall
Revisado: 07-01-21
I enjoyed the story quite a lot. Narration is wonderful. I struggled a bit with the male dominance, however, the frame it was delivered in… The way of a vampire… Made sense. It is a good read, and I am eager for the second one.

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

I wanted to love it...
Revisado: 12-13-20
I quite like suspense now voice, and I went into this full of enthusiasm. The book started out very well, and the character development is quite good. The writing is good also, I think the problem for me is that, about 3/4 of the way through, there were just so many connecting points between the guests, that it simply became too far fetched to be entertaining.

Wonderful book! Not pop fiction but literature
Revisado: 11-12-20
I love this book. It took me a bit to get into it, which I often find to be the case with books that are tremendously well written and stories that are complex. This book is exactly that, the characters are well-developed, and the development happen slowly, as you get to know them. Further, the plot is fantastic—it is seamless, intriguing, and compelling. This is the story with several themes, one is that family can be created, not just born into. Another is that aging, and even dying, do not have to be the end but but rather could be a beginning. This is absolutely the best book that I have read in quite some time. “We are better when we are broken.”

Compelling story with, as usual for Picoult, a well_researched plot
Revisado: 10-11-20
I enjoyed this book a lot. I wish I’d known that, after introducing the critical event, the book ran backwards through time earlier though because I was confused about what was going on for a bit.
Picoult makes a compelling case for beliefs on both sides of the abortion debate, and argues compellingly that the life and rights of a woman are key.
