Historia
As if nearly burning up in a freak accident on her way to Earth wasn't bad enough, Daisy had a whole mess of other trouble on her plate. Big trouble. And she was going to get to the bottom of it if it was the last thing she'd do, which it was starting to look like it very well might be. The thing is, Daisy had a simple rule for space travel. Don't blow up, and so far she'd been managing to abide by that, but mere survival wasn't enough.

Whimsically enjoyable approach to scifi
Revisado: 02-20-25
Want humor and action while not introducing anything particularly scientific in your scifi? Totally enjoyable story and not too predictable. Much foreshadowing and the bits that seem particularly heavy handed foreshadowing really throw you off the scent.
It was odd a military scifi without dwelling on weapons or tactics or technology. Most scifi has a lot of this is a new concept so I will explain it, this book used very common concepts in a completely original story. It was scifi with the explanation of a fantasy novel.

If the movie “battleship” was an audiobook set in space
Revisado: 09-12-24
Predictable to the point of knowing exactly what people will say before they say it. And knowing how each character will die before they do. Sad sad piece of writing. The narrators and sound design were very good however. If you enjoyed the movie Battleship you may enjoy this too.

The end of my journey through galaxies edge
Revisado: 07-30-24
I have been weak on this plot for a long time, the books have moments that are enough to keep me going but not looking forward to the next book. I want to move to more gripping titles that aren’t carried by punchy one liners and soon to die minor characters. Death destroyer of worlds and Garrett are my favorite characters, but this book will be my last from these authors due to the fact this series seems to be their retirement plan. I want a series where I can invest in the characters until the series ends and it leaves me wishing there was more. Just like a character in this book I just want to be done with the fighting.

Historia
Since time immemorial the Spires have sheltered humanity, towering for miles over the mist-shrouded surface of the world. Within their halls aristocratic houses have ruled for generations, developing scientific marvels, fostering trade alliances, and building fleets of airships to keep the peace. Captain Grimm commands the merchant ship Predator. Fiercely loyal to Spire Albion, he has taken their side in the cold war with Spire Aurora, disrupting the enemy's shipping lines by attacking their cargo vessels.

As a series of series concludes
Revisado: 02-27-24
I got invested in this story a series back and wanted to know what happened enough to purchase the remaining titles in that series and this one. I am glad I did, it was not so well written or in my favorite genre so I am not going to continue following the author. But it went from very shaky starts that I got for free to better and better stories and technology building that I appreciated enough to feel justified spending credits on. Taken as a whole these stories were worth a listen.

Historia
Captain Jackson Wolfe never thought he'd see the end of the Phage War in his lifetime. The enemy was too powerful, too numerous, and utterly determined to exterminate humanity. But the appearance of a new ally in the fight has changed all of that. For the first time since the original incursion, Wolfe thinks that maybe there's a chance to stop their implacable enemy before they have the chance to wipe out any more human planets.

It was a predictable story with few curves, just didn’t satisfy.
Revisado: 01-11-24
This was better than the first book worse than the last. I see the next book is on sale for $0.99 and any book you can finish is worth at least that. And I did finish it… not quickly, but I did. I bought this whole trilogy for $3 and it’s a good value for that… going to try the first book in the next series but this is not the book I was looking for.

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Worth a free listen
Revisado: 12-28-23
Military sci-fi is not my favorite. That said I was able to listen to and enjoy this. I didn’t pay for it and likely wouldn’t. It is a time filler and doesn’t bog down inventing new tech. This book talks about auto cannons and lasers powered by nuclear reactors. They have a warp drive, but it is not explained. The drives take power and create thrust somehow and they have to reverse that thrust to slow down as current spacecraft with chemical thrust…. It just didn’t really captivate me or fire up my imagination. I knew from the first battle how it would end. Predictable to a fault.
