I feel as though I have been living under a rock and through reading this book, I am know at least partially aware of what I wasn’t taught in school.

This book should be required reading for anyone who considers themselves a student of history. This holds true even more so for anyone who considers a leadership position in any field, but especially political, government, or business leaders must be knowledgeable of where we as Americans have come from. It’s the only way to get off the hamster wheel and be an agent for real and meaningful change.

If American history was a record, this is the equally important and impactful B-side of American history. You can guess what “B” signifies and why it isn’t be shared or celebrated as it should be.

Thank you Ms. Wilkerson for this amazing project. You are an amazing collector of facts and outstanding storyteller!

This book is a foundational cornerstone for understanding how the societies of the world have been shaped. Whether countries continue to evolve seeking wealth, power, and prosperity or languish in poverty may be determined by the theory provided by this book.

This is a great book about history, information, and more importantly change. It is a must read for anyone who wants to understand where we are as a human society and where we can evolve in the future with our organic relatives and our inorganic creations.

This book has touched on the very nerve that connects our past, present, and future to our eyes, mind, and hearts with pinpoint accuracy. Ta-Nehisi Coates has given us all something to wrestle with and reflect on, and more importantly, he has put the ball in play for us to act. This “story” is not Black American call to action, it is a global call to action that should inspire us all to do something for the betterment of humanity. The status quo is no longer an option. What will you do?

Why do we study history? To learn from the past. It is amazing that we (as human beings) continue to hold tight to the myths of the past for no other reason or purpose than to create the world that we want to live in. Our reality is crafted from the stories we have created to support it and oftentimes we have forgotten where the stories originated. This book gives us that deep dive into the historical significance of our views on the god we choose to create and believe in. This book will teach you how to see the anatomy of god clearly and what you decide after is up to you.

Even though written over 80 years ago, this classic book still hits the mark on so many levels. Any economics or political science professor/teacher/student should be intimately familiar with this text as it is foundational to understanding where we have and where our actions could lead us. The Road to Serfdom illustrates that the consequences of our intentions rarely match the ideal we have in mind. Nationalism, Fascism, a desire for Socialism are on the rise across the globe. Take heed!

Identity politics and the spotlight on race has widened the gap of human commonality in America. As Americans, we have a special interest in striving towards an ideal that can be a beacon for the world. Coleman has given us a path to take that could and should remedy so many of our historical differences. If we want to end victimhood and the blame game, practicing and implementing color blindness, as intended by the leaders of the civil rights movement, will get us closer to that ideal. Well done Coleman! I highly recommend this book to anyone who is exhausted by the current state of race relations in this country.

Great analysis and review of the complex and complicated decision making processes that went into addressing a threat that continues to evolve and influence how the United States conducts its national security and foreign policy. This book illustrates how there is no level of genius or strategic planning that can undo mistaken, passive, or idiotic leadership. This books is an excellent follow up to Cobra II. History repeats itself over and over. Again, when will we learn…never.
