Historia
Two years ago, a super solar storm triggered a CME pulse that crippled the country and destroyed the electrical grid. What remains of the country’s leaders are hiding a secret: something that threatens not just the US but the entire world. The Gulf Coast town of Harris Springs, Mississippi has suffered from gang attacks, famine, hurricanes, and has battled a crusading army of religious zealots. Now, they face their greatest challenge: outsmarting a tyrannical president and escaping an approaching pandemic.

Historia
Larry Diamond has made it his life's work to secure democracy's future by understanding its past and by advising dissidents fighting autocracy around the world. Ill Winds' core argument is stark: the defense and advancement of democratic ideals relies on US global leadership. If we do not reclaim our traditional place as the keystone of democracy, today's authoritarian swell could become a tsunami, providing an opening for Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and their admirers to turn the 21st century into a dark time of despotism.

strong political bias
Revisado: 08-20-19
I honestly had hoped for objective information sharing. This book has a very strong bias. To his credit, the author presents his summary of relevant historical data to support his conclusions. I kind of feel like I was being given a sales pitch, not an unbiased presentation of information and possibilities... maybe that's just me...

Revisado: 08-20-19
Great book, way more than little tid bits on how to negotiate better. Author is well qualified and shares relevant information concisely. 8 hours and 7 minutes I think were well spent!
highly recommended, if you're on the fence, I don't think you will regret buying this one.

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

good series, but third book not out on audible yet
Revisado: 02-09-16
Would you listen to Warship again? Why?
I wouldn't listen to it a second time, but it was a very good book
What other book might you compare Warship to and why?
star force series by B.V. Larson.
Which character – as performed by Mark Boyett – was your favorite?
I really don't like these questions / scripted reviews... it's obvious who the favorite character is in this book
Any additional comments?
solid book, not world class best you've ever read, but an enjoyable book, very glad I listened to it. Very bummed there is not a third book. As short as the first two books are, I would have binged all three very quickly.

Historia
Present moment awareness is an essential ingredient in life if one expects to experience any degree of authentic peace and contentment. It has been acknowledged for centuries as the cornerstone of spiritual awakening in all traditions of Eastern thought. In the West, however, it is still a relatively unrecognized concept for living. The Western mind is always restless, never content with the moment.

great book, for a self help, it really hooks you
Revisado: 05-03-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Practicing Mind to be better than the print version?
I have not read printed version... I think this is a stupid question
Who was your favorite character and why?
there are not characters, it's self help, not a novel
What about Thomas M. Sterner’s performance did you like?
well done
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
great book, for a short book (3 hours +), I really didn't expect much, but this is a very well conveyed message.
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed this book, I listen to a lot of focus related books, and for a 3 hour book I can't think of any better return on investment for your time. I do recommend The inner game of Tennis as well.

Revisado: 02-17-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Blood in the Cage to be better than the print version?
can't say, I never read the printed version. This audio book was well presented though
What other book might you compare Blood in the Cage to and why?
First of it's kind that I've read
What does Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
some of these reviews questions are really stupid... audible... come on man....
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
same as the title
Any additional comments?
If you are interested in early MMA, introduction of BJJ to the US, Pat Miletich and other UFC starts, and the rise of the UFC, this is a great listen.

Zen Jiu Jitsu is more a rendition of concepts than techniques. This is the simplest and easiest way to break down and simplify the many and varied ideas, philosophies and combinations in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu arsenal. For both competition jiu jitsu and self defense jiu jitsu most white belts need to fully understand the concepts, but it can be VERY confusing!

Worth the read
Revisado: 06-22-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
worth the read, good insights into setting expectations on how to train and advance.
Any additional comments?
I found that as a beginner, I was sometimes lost in the terms, and didn't understand specific Jiu Jitsu moves and terms being used. But overall, it was a good listen. I may listen again in 4-6 months.

Historia
As Mexico has descended into a feudal narco-state - one where cartels, death squads, the army, and local police all fight over billions of dollars in profits from drug and human trafficking - the border city of Jurez has been hit hardest of all. And yet, more than a million people still live there. They even love their impoverished city, proudly repeating its mantra: "Amor por Jurez." Nothing exemplifies the spirit and hope of Juarenses more than the Indios, the city's beloved but hard-luck soccer team.

Revisado: 06-22-14
Where does This Love Is Not for Cowards rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
great book, if you enjoy soccer, and love Mexico, and wonder what it's like down there, this is a great book. Growing up in Texas I've traveled to all parts of Mexico many times, but in the current era of violence it's off limits, and I wonder what day to day life is like. This book gives insight into that.

Historia
It is the tenth anniversary since the first publication of Daniel Goleman's groundbreaking bestseller, Emotional Intelligence, which maps the territory where IQ meets EQ, where we apply what we know to how we live. Spending over a year on the New York Times bestseller list, Emotional Intelligence provided the evidence for what many successful people already knew: being smart isn't just a matter of mastering facts; it's a matter of mastering your own emotions and understanding the emotions of the people around you.

Great read
Revisado: 06-15-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes, This book offered wonderful explanations of how the brain works. I expected more of an emotional therapeutic book, which it is, but I really enjoyed the fundamental explanations of how the brain works.
What other book might you compare Emotional Intelligence to and why?
For sports focus, I also read and enjoyed “The inner game of Tennis”, I believe these book complement each other in some regards.... but overall the scope of these two books are pretty far apart.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book is good, the annex at the end where the author explains the decision making process involved in waking up in the middle of the night to a strange noise was insightful. The first annex or two aren’t really suited for audio so much, but you need to stay with it through this one at least!
