Historia
C. S. Lewis's dazzling allegory about Heaven and Hell - and the chasm fixed between them - is one of his most brilliantly imaginative tales, where we discover that the gates of Hell are locked from the inside. In a dream, the narrator boards a bus on a drizzly afternoon in Hell and embarks on an incredible voyage to Heaven. Anyone in Hell is invited on board, and anyone may remain in Heaven if he or she so chooses. But do we really want to live in Heaven?

Historia
Is there a true seeker among us who has not endured what St. John of the Cross first called the "dark night of the soul" - a crisis, a betrayal, a sadness seeming without end? In The Way of St. John of the Cross, you will meet this towering figure - mystic, poet, healer of souls, and lover of God - and hear how this great explorer of mystical experience left an unfailing map to guide us through the dark nights of our own lives, one that promises eternal joy to all with the courage to follow it.

Great Intro to St, John of Cross
Revisado: 04-06-16
Clear introduction on St, John of the Cross. I thought the author was able to make the material understandable to the modern reader while remaining true to the teaching of St. John. She is a gifted teacher and easy to follow. Highly recommend.

Historia
Over the past hundred years, scholars have attacked the historical truth of the Gospels and argued that they were originally anonymous and filled with contradictions. In The Case for Jesus, Brant Pitre taps in to the wells of Christian scripture, history, and tradition to ask and answer a number of different questions, including: If we don't know who wrote the Gospels, how can we trust them? How are the four Gospels different from other Gospels, such as the lost Gospel of "Q" and the Gospel of Thomas?

Insightful
Revisado: 02-27-16
Full of great insights about Jesus and the Bible, highly recommend. Whether you are a Christian or not I think you will find Pitre's presentation of the subject fair, scholarly, yet approachable. He makes a surprisingly convincing case for the historicity of the gospels and Jesus claims to be Devine. The insights into 1st century Judaism make it valuable even if you have know doubts as to who Jesus was.

Historia
Most Christians are familiar with the Apostle Paul's teaching that Christ is the "Bridegroom" and the Church is the "Bride." But what does this really mean? And what would ever possess Paul to compare the death of Christ to the love of a husband for his wife? If you would have been at the Crucifixion, with Jesus hanging there dying, is that how you would have described it? How could a first-century Jew like Paul, who knew how brutal Roman crucifixions were, have ever compared the execution of Jesus to a wedding?

I found this book to be very helpful in deepening my understanding of the New Testament. It gives the reader a glimpse into the perspective of Jesus' Jewish contemporaries. There were many aha moments were texts I've read hundreds of times suddenly took on a new meaning and many times were passages I had never understood suddenly made sense. I'm going to buy the book to go through with my wife. Highly recommend.

Historia
In this bold, momentous work, the pope, in his first book written as Benedict XVI, seeks to salvage the person of Jesus from recent "popular" depictions and to restore Jesus' true identity as discovered in the Gospels. Through his brilliance as a theologian and his personal conviction as a believer, the pope shares a rich, compelling, flesh-and-blood portrait of Jesus and incites us to encounter, face-to-face, the central figure of the Christian faith.
