Historia
Emma can be enjoyed as a charming love story, a detective story, and a comic and lively picture of English life 200 years ago. Austen's beautiful, clever, wilful but fallible heroine Emma Woodhouse believes she knows best. Perfectly content with her life she sees no need for either love or marriage, yet nothing pleases her more than meddling in the romantic lives of others.

Historia
The final book of Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove tetralogy is an exhilarating tale of legend and heroism. Captain Woodrow Call, August McCrae's old partner, is now a bounty hunter hired to track down a brutal young Mexican bandit. Riding with Call are an Eastern city slicker, a witless deputy, and one of the last members of the Hat Creek outfit, Pea Eye Parker, now married to Lorena -- once Gus McCrae's sweetheart. This long chase leads them across the last wild streches of the West....

I enjoyed hearing about all the characters that I got to know in Lonesome Dove. I was very perturbed with the Railroad Colonel Terry cut Brookshires pension in half and never did pay Lorena, call or Pea Eye for any expenses. I also think that Call would have had the experience to read the situation of the 2 stray horses near there camp before he was shot by Joey. That wasn’t believable. I would have also liked it better if Maria had lived and Call not lost his arm and a leg.

Lonesome Dove
Revisado: 08-23-24
I found it unfair the Gus hung Jake. Jake was trying to figure out a way to leave. I really hated see Gus die. I also didn’t know why Call had ran into him barber in Lonesome Dove that was there when Gus lost his legs. I wonder if Call ever went back up to Montana.
This is one of my favorite novels now. I’m really glad I listed to it on Audio. Horsely did a great job with the vernacular. I found myself rooting for the characters.

Two retired Texas Rangers, Captains Woodrow Call and Augustus "Gus" McCrae, lead a cattle drive from the small town of Lonesome Dove to the unsettled Montana territories. On their grueling journey, they are joined by Joshua Deets, a Black scout and former Ranger, Jake Spoon, a fugitive, and Newt Dobbs, a 17-year-old boy who may have family ties to Call. Richly authentic, beautifully written, always dramatic, Lonesome Dove will make listeners laugh and weep, dream and remember.

Historia
Daniel Defoe’s novel is a delightful 18th century classic. Called “the truest realism in English literature” and “the tale of a hot, earthy wench,” it meets both expectations while also offering a remarkable portrayal of an ingenious mind. Moll is born in Newgate prison to a petty thief and is soon left at the mercy of whoever will take her in.

Widely regarded as the first English novel, Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe is one of the most popular and influential adventure stories of all time. Historia
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

Historia
One of the most revered works in English literature, Great Expectations traces the coming of age of a young orphan, Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations into a man of maturity. From the chilling opening confrontation with an escaped convict to the grand but eerily disheveled estate of bitter old Miss Havisham, all is not what it seems in Dickens’ dark tale of false illusions and thwarted desire.

Revisado: 03-09-23
When the announcement was made not to indict DT I was so upset. Mark Pomerantz is correct that people like me loose faith in the justice system. It seems that only the poor and middle class have to obey the laws and pay taxes and they are subject to the consequences if they don’t. I think Si’s replacement already had his mind made up that he wasn’t going to indict DT….I wonder what the reason was? It does make me suspect person gain.
