Historia
Teagan Frost is having a hard time keeping it together. Sure, she's got telekinetic powers - a skill that the government is all too happy to make use of, sending her on secret break-in missions that no ordinary human could carry out. But all she really wants to do is kick back, have a beer, and pretend she's normal for once. But then a body turns up at the site of her last job - murdered in a way that only someone like Teagan could have pulled off. She's got 24 hours to clear her name - and it's not just her life at stake.

Not a bad story but the protagonist is annoying
Revisado: 11-08-23
I thought that it was an interesting story. Overall. I like psychic abilities, I like psycho kinesis, I like shady government organizations. I do not like overblown super cocky, insecure yet. Yet somehow overly confident protagonists that talk and think and react to situations and people as if they are a 12-year-old. I don't know how many times we heard the lead talk about finding someone like her and that she was alone in the world... But like I said, I think the story is interesting and I think it would be a lot of fun to watch if it were turned into a TV series.

Historia
As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit. Each team of crawlers is given a task: Find and capture six of these beasts.

Revisado: 10-12-23
I love these books! but every time I start one I think " What are they going to do now? I can't just keep having people go through level by level of a dungeon. how many levels are there? It's going to run out of ideas at some point, right? or will there even be a next book?" and then I listen to the book. And I'm excited to hear the wacky bizarre and surprisingly heart-wrenching tail of a man and his boxers with a cat. I never expected to care about characters in a lit RPG comedy, but damn I do. I'm not going to spoil the story in any way shape or form. Just get it and listen to it. You won't regret it.

keeps getting better, surprisingly!
Revisado: 09-14-23
When I purchased the first dungeon crawler Carl book I didn't really expect a lot. I had a bunch of credits and I really wasn't sure what to listen to and I'd recently started playing Diablo. I was familiar with Jeff Hayes work from the monster Hunter series and was really impressed with this voice work, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I finished this book yesterday and I'm about to start the 6th book in the series. as always, Jeff Hayes voice work is top notch. Every character he voices is distinguishable and unique. I think he's one of the best voice actors I've ever heard. after the fourth book I was still enjoying things but I thought, " they can't just keep going through the floors right? not sure how many levels of the dungeon there are, but it seems like if this is a 20 level dungeon, the books are eventually going to start to get a little repetitive, possibly" but that doesn't seem to be the case. there are story arcs from the other books that are continuing their characters that Carl and donut meet that they care about and more in the loss of. In this book there are more things happening outside the dungeon to Carl and Donut that I never expected that are really interesting and have me wondering what's going to happen in the next books. when I started this series I never expected to be emotionally attached to a guy running around in a dungeon and is underwear with toe rings and a talking cat, but here I am feeling empathy for Donut and Carl and some specific moderately heart-wrenching situations. these books are really my first lit RPG books and the only thing that I don't like about them is, I don't know what other series to listen to next. how could any other books live up to the quality and detail of this series? anyway, if you're reading this review, you've probably read or listened to the other books so you don't even need to see this. but if you happen to have stumbled across this book and haven't checked out any of the series, go ahead and start with book one. I don't think you'll regret it.

things are stranger
Revisado: 05-06-22
I enjoyed this book. I just want to preface with I'm a huge fan of the threshold series by the author and this is something different. I really didn't know what to expect when I started listening and I don't want to spoil too much, but I think fans of stranger things might be into this... obviously... look at my title. you have a young girl that's been involved in some sort of a project and is on the run. An unknown contact directs her to an ex-spec ops guy and he tries to help. I didn't entirely expect what happened. I thought the narrator was pretty good, you sort of reminded me of Keanu Reeves a little bit. I wasn't a huge fan of how he voiced the young girl, and when she's explaining her past for a few chapters it was a little hard to listen to, but stick with it it really starts to get interesting. The other is really great at wrapping things up in it really interesting ways.

Historia
In the year 2243, the Moon belongs to the dead. The largest graveyard in the solar system, it was the perfect solution to the overcrowding and environmental problems that had plagued mankind for centuries. And the perfect place for Cali Washington to run away from her past. But when a mysterious meteor crashes into one of the Moon’s cemeteries, Cali and her fellow Caretakers find themselves surrounded by a terrifying enemy force that outnumbers them more than a thousand to one. An enemy not hindered by the lack of air or warmth or sustenance. An enemy that is already dead.

not bad, but not what I expected
Revisado: 04-17-22
14 and the Fold are two of my favorite books I have ever listened to. I wasn't doing several times over the years and actually read them both too. The reviews on Dead Moon really pushed me away from listening to it so instead I skipped to the fourth book. well, at the beginning of the month I binged my way through 14 and the Fold one more time. And they were fantastic. so I decided to give Dead Moon a shot. I wanted to know exactly how it fit into the threshold universe and how zombies on the moon fit in. I'm happy to say that I found out sort of. this book is really about one of the Squales after it, mostly, died. I don't think that's much of a spoiler as that's really how the intro sets it up. this isn't a bad standalone horror book, but it certainly isn't written in the same vein as 14 or the fold. there is constant discovery like 14 in the fold but it's not as rewarding as the discoveries in 14 in the fold are. The last three or four hours of the book really isn't focused on zombies so much but the rapid evolution of a squail. you might even be able to compare it to "the thing" a little bit. anyway, this book is really more suited for someone who is into the sci-fi horror genre of books and movies and isn't written in the same vein as 14 and the fold, but it certainly doesn't deserve one star reviews. If you've ever delved into Peter Klein's ex-heroes books, which deal of non-standard zombies, you could understand how he may have ended up here. I will say that I was a little disappointed that there wasn't any connection to any of the characters from the first two books. this is more like a standalone b-side I guess. I'm not really sure what time. it takes place in because it certainly isn't within the same time framed as 14 and the fold.

best in the series
Revisado: 11-05-20
In my opinion this has been the absolute best the Dresden files has ever been. action from start to finish. not just blowing things up. there are parts that are devastatingly emotional. I cried several times and then laughed pretty shortly after. I feel bad for Harry. Maybe bad isn't the word exactly. But he's definitely got himself into central back when he made his deal with Mab to become the winter night. and that just keeps following him.

Terrible reader
Revisado: 10-02-19
I had heard great things about the author and this collection of stories. I was really looking forward to listening I love scary unusual. I made it about halfway through the book and dislike the narrator from the very beginning. I had hoped at the narrator would grow on me as the book went on but he actually became more and more grading. unfortunately his range is very limited he sounds down-trodding and depressed from the very beginning of the book and continues that way all the way to the point that I listened. he doesn't have a very distinguishable tone between characters. his voice became so distracting I couldn't follow stories halfway through the book so I just quit listening. Huntington to pick the books up on my Kindle and check them out there. I hope this collection of stories is rerecorded with someone else. listen at your own risk.

Where does Darksiders: The Abomination Vault rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a pretty great book for anything who's played the games.
Who was your favorite character and why?
deatlh is my favorite character. He has a depth I'd never expect. As a man in this mid thirties I feel like I can identify with his regrets..
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I couldn't stop listening. Death and war have a complex relationship that keeps our lives the way we want them.
Any additional comments?
If you you play the games. Read it.
