Fun new series to keep an eye on

So repetitive it hurts

I like Jay’s writing and enjoyed most of this series, but I’m glad it’s over. In retrospect the series should have been put out to pasture after the Hegemony ark.

I don’t know what was going on when he was writing the last few books but this one was just painful.

The number of times each character repeats the same inner monologue is beyond aggravating. Eventually I had to turned the speed up to x1.5 because I couldn’t stand, listening to the same thoughts over and over. On a positive note, he remembered that the fighter wings exist this time.

If you take out the repetitive parts, you probably have a serviceable, verging on decent five hour conclusion to the story.

OK story, but…

The story at this point is just OK, J seems to have lost track of his own story and the way battles are fought. The entire fighter squadron is entirely absent from the book.

At this point, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no editor involved.

🤬 Aggravating…in a good way

The story is good, but the idiocy of certain characters is beyond frustrating and might make you consider slamming your head into a brick wall.

Good but…

The overall story continues to be enjoyable, but the “twist” felt contrived and cheap.

Once again R.C. Bray provides excellent narration brings the characters to life with a brilliant performance.

Do it…it’s well worth the credit

In a genre filled with overly serious and/or dark tails. Superdreadnought stands out as a perfect mix of comedy, action and well thought out storytelling. It’s a fun ride that you won’t regret.

A fun send off for the SD Reynolds and it’s crew.

The book is a collection of stories taking place as the ship and its crew hop across a new galaxy on the way back home. It makes for a fun, lighthearted final voyage.

Good enough to warrant a listen.

I wouldn’t call this Scott’s best work. Both the writing and premise fall slightly short of his Ixan Prophecy and Fleet Ops series. That said, it makes up for the disappointment I felt at the conclusion of Spacers.
