Historia
In this warm and charming three-part story, Willie Juan moves from orphaned boy to prodigal adult to ragamuffin friend of Abba. As with any parable, there is one overarching truth: the unconditional love of God. Patched Together is a charming retelling of the Gospel story of forgiveness, acceptance, and joy in God's friendship.

Historia
The Lost Country centers on Edgewater, who's recently been discharged from the navy, and a one-armed con man named Roosterfish who takes him under his wing as they both search desperately for a forgotten past and a future that may never come. The Lost Country cements Gay as one of the strongest voices in Southern literature, alongside Cormac McCarthy, Flannery O'Connor, and William Faulkner.

A pedophiles confession
Revisado: 01-11-25
This book reads like a vagabond pedophiles confession. I tend to like the souther or American gothic style due to the fact that every tale my own father told me could have been a story from here…minus the pedophilia. Again…well done but something’s I just don’t like reading or listening to, tales like this being just that, something I’d rather not read or hear.

Revisado: 12-30-24
Man o man! What a story! Somehow he manages to beautifully portray the stuff that is not. Things about people, maybe ourselves…movie is good but the background and then the books ending, yowzers!

Not it!!!
Revisado: 11-18-24
It is rare when I like a movie adaptation better than the source material but this is one of them. I’d rather listen to one hour on YouTube for a book summary than spend the 20 plus hours listening to this. I’m not sure if it’s the style but I literally did not care about the people and just wanted to know the secret mystery which I won’t spoil for you but it’s was a let down to me. Sure you’re picking apart humanity and society and blah blah blah…I DON’T CARE! Just explain to me what and where the or who, about the super fantastical mystery you created. I’d like to return it but it doesn’t show as an option…whatever…I wasted a credit.

It felt off
Revisado: 08-17-24
I really enjoyed the first three books of this series but this one felt off. It felt like an actual attempt at engaging you by fear in our post COVID world. The performance was also at times inconsistent which took extra work to stay tracking the characters. I guess it’s a decent continuation but I’d be fine not having read this one.

In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Every woman wants to be Elizabeth Bennet Darcy - beautiful, gracious, universally admired, strong, daring and outspoken - a thoroughly modern woman in crinolines. And every woman will fall madly in love with Mr. Darcy - tall, dark and handsome, a nobleman and a heartthrob whose virility is matched only by his utter devotion to his wife. Their passion is consuming and idyllic - essentially, they can’t keep their hands off each other - through a sweeping tale of adventure and misadventure, human folly and numerous mysteries of parentage.

This was not meant for true Jane Austen fans
Revisado: 11-21-23
Any true Jane Austen fan will not enjoy the liberties taken with these characters. Not only does everything that takes place so out of character and unbelievable the writing is often hard to get through. I can’t recommend.

Historia
In this new edition, popular author Walter Brueggemann writes that the Sabbath is not simply about keeping rules but rather about becoming a whole person and restoring a whole society. Brueggemann calls out our 24/7 society of consumption, a society in which we live to achieve, accomplish, perform, and possess. We want more, own more, use more, eat more, and drink more. Brueggemann tells listeners how keeping the Sabbath allows us to break this restless cycle and focus on what is truly important: God, other people, all life.

Punk Rock…
Revisado: 07-19-23
The Sabbath is punk rock…that’s the moral of the story. Sort of anyway, it is a very dense and engaging spiritual book that has made me reflect and rethink some of my habit as a long time believer. Being a punk rock kid at heart though I love the view of how and why the Sabbath is so truly counter culture, even in biblical historical times.

Beautiful yet harrowing
Revisado: 01-19-23
Just a tale about a man that chooses to live a different life from what he could have, crazy characters in and out of his life all the while it stays dark and slightly oppressive yet beautiful and real. I fantastic read or listen to get away from the modern day drudgery.
