Inspiring Story!!!

I’m so glad I chose this Audible! I grew up in a similar religion (cult) and left. I didn’t only leave my religion, my way of life, I left my community. I related so much to this book. It gave me inspiration and motivation to thrive outside of a religion that was my way of life and my belief system that was deeply ingrained in me.

This was a great book! Characters were believable and interesting. I really fell in love with the two teens; Freddie and Jenna. The story was suspenseful and fantastic ending! Great twists!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, I do believe this was an interesting story and I could totally relate to Dave! I grew up as a JW also and am a recovering addict. I grew up listening to Metallica and Megadeath. I still listen to them. So, this book gave me some great insight and I was entertained by Dave's story.
Any additional comments?
I was a little disappointed that Dave says he's a been sober, yet has not completely abstained from alcohol. He mentions that he drinks wine, once in awhile. I have heard him speak before, for a group that believes in complete abstinence. So, it was very shocking to hear in this reading that he still drinks with dinner.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I was entertained and curious, during the story. It didn't keep me at the edge of my seat.
But, I am happy that I kept listening, the I loved the ending. The ENDING IS WHAT I THINK IS GREAT AND SO VERY UNEXPECTED!
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
It was a great book to listen to. Performance was good, not great, but good.
