Historia
A dialogue between Socrates and Meno probes the subject of ethics. Can goodness be taught? If it can, then we should be able to find teachers capable of instructing others about what is good and bad, right and wrong, or just and unjust.

Socrates guides us through an obstacle course on our path to wisdom
Revisado: 09-06-24
Ray Child’s is by far my favorite narrator of the Platonic dialogues. His Socrates is very convincing and makes you feel like your in ancient Athens.

Stay in the now
Revisado: 02-05-23
Even as I’m typing this, I am staying here in the now. There is no fear or anxiety in the present. Those are just projections of your future or past. The now is where eternal bliss is. Thank you Eckhart Tolle

Historia
One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions - a cornerstone of Western thought.

Timeless wisdom to keep referring back to
Revisado: 01-11-23
I have to admit, I put off listening to Marcus Aurelius’s for so long due to the YouTube “stoic-bro” association I had in my mind.
There are so many great one liners and timeless wisdom packed into roughly 5 hours. I can say I with confidence that I will go through this book multiple times and refer back to it when needed. Thank you Marcus Aurelius!

Historia
The Republic poses questions that endure: What is justice? What form of community fosters the best possible life for human beings? What is the nature and destiny of the soul? What form of education provides the best leaders for a good republic? What are the various forms of poetry and the other arts, and which ones should be fostered and which ones should be discouraged? How does knowing differ from believing?

Historia
In the early spring of 1845, Henry David Thoreau built and lived in a cabin near the shore of Walden Pond in rural Massachusetts. For the next two years, he enacted his own Transcendentalist experiment, living a simple life based on self-reliance, individualism, and harmony with nature. The journal he kept at that time evolved into his masterwork, Walden, an eloquent expression of a uniquely American philosophy.

Teach me how to live Simply

The best chapters of Walden are 1-4 and 20. The rest of the book is Thoreau talking about the small details in living on Walden Pond.
