Nothing exciting about this one. It was boring and typical for a great portion of it

Good story but it was slowww. I had to fight to not fast forward because I prefer a faster pace. Overall it was enjoyable and I enjoyed it.

This story is told in two very different time periods but the transitions between the two were pretty smooth.

This is my first time reading this genre from the Author. She is “long winded “ in both genres.

This was pretty good. This is my favorite in this off World Series. So much going on and the pace was steady until the last few chapters but it does end on a cliffhanger. Surprised I enjoyed this so much because the story leading up to this one was drawn out and mostly boring.

I liked the story for the most part. I didn’t like Kit very much for most of the book I get her character is multi layered but many of the layers were irritating. I liked the supporting characters pretty much, the narration of Sam was so terrible I had to pump the breaks on getting the next book because the narrator is the same. No idea why the decided to voice him as they did. It made him sound unsophisticated, whiny and pitiful. It was very very distracting and not what one would expect if a professional psychiatrist. The narration and the pace of the storytelling are my two negatives but those are pretty big factors as they decrease the enjoyment of this audiobook.

I liked the story and the characters, main and supporting, for the most part but did not like their monotone weird narration. Most of the dialogue sounded like an hours long job interview.

I didn’t realize I knew a some of the characters in this book. Glad to have my memory tested and realizing I liked revisiting these characters.

I usually fully love a Cotton Malone novel but this one was half-baked for me. I was okay with all of the history and lore involving the Catholic Church. They have enough terrible history to result in good storytelling. For the most part I was okay with the mystery elements. I was not okay with how the narration flowed. The transition from person to person was not great at all. Most characters sounded the same and it took a few seconds to realize who was talking. I found that most annoying. Honestly my three stars are generous. I absolutely. hated the ending. I think it was a terrible way to so called resolve things. I can’t say more than that without giving away too much . This is not how you resolve a mystery. Darnit.

I have read tons of books in this series and mostly enjoy them. This one had an interesting story featuring Somerset and his old friends and partners. Unfortunately parts of this story lulled for hours and went nowhere fast. It was a bunch of nonsense details and filler words that added no value to me as a reader. Not my favorite at all. Still love the series but hope the next one moves a bit faster or at least if it is a long story make it exciting and fast paced.

I hated Peyton in the first book. Took me into book 2.5 to like her. Was really closed disliking her again by the last one. I don’t know why this author decided to make these characters so darn whiny. I enjoyed the supporting characters more than the main two. Jake was my favorite and far smarter and more of a strategic thinker than the others combined. Should have just killed the Peyton series at book 2 and did a Jake spin off.

I liked the fiction of the story and the overall theme but goodness it took me about 2 months for me to finish it because it stalled so bad. It had good bones but it fell apart in the story telling. I never take so long to finish a book but this one kept dragging and dragging so much I lost interest. I had to force myself to not fast forward to the end. It’s the first of a series. I’m not sure I want to go through the mental battle of pushing through the series as it felt more like work than entertainment
