Small packages; life's more important realities
Revisado: 03-01-20
It will not take one much time to glean the touching simple realness that reaches across time and these pages. The fact that we humans share so much inner turmoil and yet find time for "peace" and "checking-in" with TRUTH in whatever "strokes" we find necessary (through Faith or other) just further drives home the power of our resiliency and the mind's potential power to keep us going. Hats off for a work that will bring a smile and a grain of TRUTH and HOPE to every individual who is fortunate enough to come across this find and digest it!

Historia
In 1912, scientist Marie Curie spent two months on the British seaside at the home of Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. At the time, Curie was in the throes of a scandal in France over her affair with Paul Langevin, which threatened to overshadow the accomplishment of her second Nobel Prize. Performed by Kate Mulgrew and Francesca Faridany at the Minetta Lane Theatre, this play by Lauren Gunderson is an ode to two remarkable women.

Powerful, Real & Moving
Revisado: 12-30-19
This emotionally-charged and thoughtful production piece not only opened my eyes to the social, societal, and scientific pressures, and political developments affecting the college-educated minority. To even begin to unravel how the few women, who entered into this elite class of working intellectuals, had to live and fight to carry out their chosen life work, careers and then again stay true to their families, loved ones clearly is an area of growing interest and importance. These pioneers set the stage for later female scientists and for the great revolutions in woman's work in the 20th century and today. This theatrical production hints at how much life has changed for women, but also how much so much is vague in terms of the power struggles still experienced by women --,especially in the physical sciences and t the upper/ top sectors. This theater gives the audience a thoughtful and arguably rather sweet and beautiful regard for the passions that keep one strong and vital even in the face of social inequality.

As a journalist, Gellhorn covered every military conflict from the Spanish Civil War to Vietnam and Nicaragua. She also bewitched Eleanor Roosevelt's secret love and enraptured Ernest Hemingway with her courage as they dodged shell fire together.

Unique Adventures & Political Insights
Revisado: 03-21-19
Martha Bellhorn bares all as she describes the highs and, much more common and irksome, lows of "pioneering" travel escapades peppered throughput her life. This makes for a one-of-a-kind thoughtful read delivered via a strikingly authentic performance.
The reader feels as if she is really there!

Historia
Inheritance is an audiobook about secrets - secrets within families, kept out of shame or self-protectiveness; secrets we keep from one another in the name of love. It is the story of a woman's urgent quest to unlock the story of her own identity, a story that has been scrupulously hidden from her for more than 50 years, years she had spent writing brilliantly, and compulsively, on themes of identity and family history.

Penetrating and Thoughtful Beyond its Pages
Revisado: 02-12-19
This work has brought me closer to its deeply reflective and highly sensitive and poignantly skillful writer. Having enjoyed her previous memoirs, this one spoke to me most clearly about the marvelous catastrophes that can unfold in the drama of our modern lives -- and yet, despite all of it, there is a rhythm -- almost magical, that cannot be created or predicted-- that leads, gives us direction and makes things just seem to fall into place. Whether this is the soma that occurs over time or just the result of taking each day as it comes and never saying never, we may not know.

More clever and all-absorbing than first look!
Revisado: 11-29-18
this novel is not only engrossing and convincing and its character development, the plot is in tents and gripping and actually may draw someone in so that it is hard to separate from this body of work during the time that you are reading it.
Highly recommended – especially to those who think that they could see a sociopath from miles away! Ha ha!

A Mist-read for anyone interested in Truth and...
Revisado: 11-02-18
Yes, if you are interested in truth and what it really means to be American, and this is the read for you. Of course, it helps to have a curious and open mind; further, it does not hurt to be interested in the history of the American space program!
The riding and the performance in this biography could not be finer! Moreover, this piece brings many questions to the IV. Not only questions regarding our heritage , And how much scholarship by African-Americans has been hidden from the majority of American eyes, but it also asks us to look at modern day and, perhaps, Y the marsh 2 Silicon Valley has seemingly been so one-sided — that is, so predicated on male, often Southeast Indian and Caucasian — of course, males. Even if the NACA nuts included highly intelligent, hard-working African Americans – – and African-American women, to boot! — only covertly, this achievement at a time when the country was on the precipice of a massive Civil Rights movement, why are we still so many light years backward — today in 2018?!...
If anything, this book guarantees to open your eyes to sum of the inequality that exists over a half a century ago, and that, sadly and very unfortunately, is still interwoven and ingrained in much of the daily living that we wrongly and so passively take for grated today.

Historia
Long overshadowed by Jane Eyre, Villette is widely admired as one of Charlotte Bronte's finest works. This story of a young teacher at a girl's school in the city of Villette is a particular challenge for the young reader, for it requires maturity of vision, a fine narrative sense - and a command of French! Mandy Weston, a newcomer to Naxos AudioBooks, tells the story magnificently.

Little known masterpiece!
Revisado: 10-18-18
Having loved Jane Eyre – – in fact, having read it and reread it over four times in my life so far – –, I purchased this read with much curiosity and not believing that Charlotte Brontë could have produced more than one real jam. However, I was very much wrong in this assumption. If anything, Brontë’s novel, Villette, is even more haunting and more sinister in its characterization and storyline (be it, however, more covertly applied herein than in Jane Eyre. A mesmerizing and marvelously convincing performance sharpens and enlivens the bitter poignancy and timeless nature of this epic master work!
