An unbiased and fair exposition of the necessary responsibilities to preserve Florida’s wildlife. This book was so fun to listen to and I highly recommend it.

Such a well told and interesting story about the people who first pioneered wildlife conservation in the sunshine state. A must read for those invested in conservation or who enjoy early 20th century history.

The author is a very experienced and well read individual and this book is a very engaging read from cover to cover. I don’t think I got very much from the book however and felt that most discussions and historical examples were superficial, so I finished the book feeling like I didn’t learn very much. This specifically disappointed me because it is apparent that the author is a high level educator and whose editor must have encouraged him to cut hundreds of pages of content to make it more “digestible” for a common audience. Regardless, going into the book for a fun anecdotal story that accurately describes the relationship modern (and historic) sailors have with the wind and weather makes this book a must read. This is the type of book that makes you want to sit down with the author and pick his brain for all he has to know.

Wonderful narrative and character building. This was the first LitRPG I listened to and I’m so glad I did.

First half was a little slow but helpful and necessary for the meat of the story after chapter 9. I learned a lot about corporate aviation and recommend it.

I really enjoyed this as a casual lesson. I would love a follow up book with more technical aspects of his sailing experience and personal motivations. Certainly a great story and a good lesson, definitely recommend.

It’s often difficult to find quality memoirs written by German belligerents in WW2 and it can be disorienting associating their accounts with events we know of in the West. However, Van Rosen’s story is a testament to a quality man who did his duty and nothing more. The action and events are thrilling to read and imagine how oneself could survive such ordeals. The narrator has some great experience in pronouncing German and French terms, which is always amusing to imagine. Overall, I recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about the Wehrmacht soldier and the great iron horses they called home.

If you’re familiar with John Kretchmer’s writing, this book is certainly the epitome of his crazy adventures and love for the sea. As a fairly new sailor, I enjoyed his stories about just starting to sail all the way up to one of his greatest achievements. I highly recommend this book to anyone who’s in need of a vicarious adventure or some light sailing literature. The narration is good, although I preferred the performance of Sailing to The Edge of time the most.

Although Urbina writes on all aspects of the gray lines in maritime law, the stories and research he provides on the efforts and discrepancies regarding oceanic environmental conservation was insightful and shocking. I truly have felt moved to help in the efforts to protect our oceans and I appreciate all the hard work Urbina did to write about it all.
