Historia
Totalitarianism is not a coincidence and does not form in a vacuum. It arises from a collective psychosis that has followed a predictable script throughout history. In The Psychology of Totalitarianism, world-renowned Professor of Clinical Psychology Mattias Desmet deconstructs the societal conditions that allow this collective psychosis to take hold. By looking at our current situation and identifying the phenomenon of “mass formation”—a type of collective hypnosis—he clearly illustrates how close we are to surrendering to totalitarian regimes.

Uneven in quality.
Revisado: 10-13-23
This book ranges from 5 stars to 1 star depending on the specific topic. There are some novel proposals about totalitarianism well worth considering, as well as comments that appear outside of the authors expertise that should have been omitted. Where were the editors? Overall I found it worth reading but readers will have to do their own deletions as they progress through the book.

Historia
Many tales from the Jazz Age reek of crime and corruption. But perhaps the era’s greatest political fiasco—one that resulted in a nationwide scandal, a public reckoning at the Department of Justice, the rise of J. Edgar Hoover, and an Oscar-winning film—has long been lost to the annals of history. In Crooked, Nathan Masters restores this story of murderers, con artists, secret lovers, spies, bootleggers, and corrupt politicians to its full, page-turning glory.

I suggest that everyone read this to appreciate the abuse potential of the federal government. A fascinating presentation of past political and monetary corruption that is a page turner as well. 90 years has not made much difference was my conclusion.

Historia
We live in a factory-made world: modern life is built on three centuries of advances in factory production, efficiency, and technology. But giant factories have also fueled our fears about the future since their beginnings, when William Blake called them "dark Satanic mills". Many factories that operated over the last two centuries - such as Homestead, River Rouge, and Foxconn - were known for the labor exploitation and class warfare they engendered, not to mention the environmental devastation caused by factory production.

History of the industrialised world
Revisado: 06-29-22
From the industrial revolution in England to the mega modern day factories in China and Vietnam with the Ford genesis of the assembly line and WWII linking the two. This is a geopolitical story including how factories work, with labor, union, and management relations along the way told from a factual unbiased viewpoint, the best I am read. This book also provides missing material towards understanding capitalism, socialism, and communism. If it all sounds too good to be true, check it out. You are unlikely to be disappointed. The reader matches the book and the material.
