The pacing isn't quite right

It seems like the author chooses the same pacing for every single interaction. The overuse of adjectives and adverbs in situations that would be best serviced by short, concise descriptions, especially from the internal monologues of any of the characters, is frustrating. The story is amazing, And the narrator really nailed it. It just seems like the author might've been trying to emulate an epic fantasy, when maybe the book called for more sections of terseness.
