The horrible narration
Revisado: 10-03-24
I got as far as I did on the story because I wanted to find out what happened to the main character but the narration was mechanical and without inflection. You did the author and the listeners no favor. You should have let the author be the narrator if you didn’t want to pay a professional.

The characters and narration
Revisado: 09-11-24
The narrator for this whole series is excellent. Each book can be listen to by itself but I liked hearing the whole series because I could see how the 5 children grew and developed. As an adult I really enjoyed all the books so far and would recommend them for children, maybe 6th grade up for good readers but to be listened to by elementary children as well. The stories about a close multi cultural family growing up in an old brownstone in New York really draw you in to see what will happen next.

Historia
Even the bright seaside village of Molena Point has been hit hard by the economic downturn. Sadly, former residents haven’t just left their homes; they’ve abandoned their pets, too. Luckily, Joe Grey’s human friends have joined together to care for the animals. But just as one problem is solved more arise. A suspicious fire leaves a twelve-year-old boy homeless when the body of his alcoholic elderly guardian is discovered in the smoldering ruins.

Cats that can talk and their people
Revisado: 01-13-17
One of my favorite genres is mysteries so I love the way Joe Grey, a confidential informant, helps the police of Molena Point, Ca bring various thieves, murderers, and scammers to justice. He communicates only by phone and even the chief of police doesn't know his identity but has learned to trust his tips. Joe, whose bloodlines reach back to ancient Ireland, is one of a small collection of talking cats who have come together in the coastal town. In this book of the series the central mystery is to find who poisoned and then burned the shack of an old woman, leaving her young grandson homeless. I enjoyed all the twists and turns of the plot and look forward to reading the next book to find out what happens next to all the characters especially the 12 year old grandson and the newly arrived talking cat Pan.
