I was so confident that this would be the best volume in the series! The likable protagonists, the six good-natured roommates, the age-gap trope that I love, and Shaw's painful past hinted at in the previous volume were all there.
Unfortunately, we didn't see anything from his past, it was just told.
Then he met the boys, got a job and Julian arranged an apartment for him - he owns the last available room and shares common spaces with him. From here on, it is not difficult to guess what the outcome will be - if the title wasn't already revealing enough. :D
The whole book focuses on Shaw, which I absolutely understand, but I'm a little sad that I didn't get to know Julian better - although his overall character trait is certainly not just him being selfless.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the unfolding of their relationship, even though the book hurt me much less than I expected. I think some flashbacks would have been good.

This is the book in the series that I would say is more enjoyable if you have read the previous books, because keeping track of so many characters can be hard for some people, but it can stand on its own anyway - even though the reader (aka me) will definitely would want to read the last book, because if those two dummies won't confess their love to each other very quickly, I'm gonna do it for them! :D

The narrator made a noticeable effort to separate the two characters, Shaw is more reserved and shy than the others; he conveyed this beautifully! However, I still missed a little more enthusiasm from his part. You don't have to be afraid of sex scenes, play with your voice! :(

This is the second book of the series, but it can be read on its own - which is a very good thing, but since I've read it directly after the first, there was quite a lot of repetition regarding the housing situation. (This is not a bad thing, just a note.)
I was glad that Bash didn't turn out to be as unapproachable and grumpy as I assumed based on the previous book, and he quickly loosened up around the others. His relationship with Ollie, who is almost as direct as Leighton and says everything without thinking, especially when he is embarrassed, works very well. :D
The age difference is really quite significant, but all those who are important to them acknowledged it with a shrug, and they just encouraged them. Well, Ollie didn't seem to mind the age-gap, but it took Bash a relatively long time to get over it.
I liked that the two protagonists got a nice little package of trauma and pain, and I can see that the trend will continue - I'm preparing in advance for Shaw's story, I guess it will be the most emotional one in the series.
I can't say anything bad, I had a lot of fun reading it.

The best part is that this time I have no particular reason to complain about the narrator. Okay, he still didn't change his voice when voicing a female character, and I've been missing a little more 'soul' in some places, but overall I liked his work better than in the first book. Maybe it's just that his voice is most suitable with more serious characters/situations. (And the weird "microphone-pushing" sound in the background is gone!)

The audiobook was provided me by the author. (Thank you!)

Jett, a tattoo artist, is thought by most people to be an intimidating loner - well, Leighton isn't one of them and bursts into Jett's life like a hurricane. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and he's openly flirting with Jett from the minute he first saw him. The problem is that Jett is straight and Leigh has burned himself before, so he decides he has to do with friendship. The friendship soon turns into a friends with benefits relationship and…
There are no huge surprises in the story, it is clear to everyone that the guys are in love with each other and HEA is guaranteed. Sometimes I pick up certain books specifically for that reason. A light read can be good for a girl, especially after a particularly dark, gloomy and painful book.
I loved the other guys (each couple has their own book, yay!), I want friends like them too! Leighton's innuendos kept me smiling and I loved his many attempts at nicknames!
I especially liked the demi rep, Jett's road to his self-discovery was absolutely believable and understandable.
The whole book is a giant, soft blanket, in which the readers can wrap themselves in such a way that they want to stay in it until the end of the series (maybe even after finishing it). I really enjoyed this book!

The problem for me was the narrator.
A subjective opinion follows. Oliver Young-Apstein seems to have really only read the book; he didn't play with his voice, he had the same style, timbre, enthusiasm from start to finish. If I hadn't had the e-book in front of me, it would have been very difficult for me to believe that the sentences was not said by Jett, but by his grandfather. Because as Jett's voice, I think he was quite good. Leighton's parts, on the other hand, lacked playfulness, humor, smiles... It was as if he really only fulfilled his duty by reading ~250 pages, but he didn't really bring any life into it. It was as if he was bored or just wanted to get over it all... (It was also a bit disturbing that in the background it was like someone was nudging the microphone every few minutes - I have never experienced this before with other audiobooks.)

Overall, the book itself is really fun and lovable but I'll need time to get used to the narrator's style.
