Historia
When Bridget arrives penniless in Dodge City, already disillusioned by feckless men and the uncompromising landscape, she has only her wits to keep her alive. Thanks to the allure of her bright red hair and country-girl beauty, she’s recruited to work at the Buffalo Queen, the only brothel in town run by women. Bridget takes to brothel life, appreciating the good food, good pay, and good friendships she forms with her fellow “sporting women.” But with the arrival of some infamous outlaws at the start of winter, tensions in Dodge City run high.

A Phenomenal book
Revisado: 12-15-23
Beautifully written and expertly narrated, this captivating story was compelling from beginning to end. Sometimes brutal, the suffering to become one’s true self was searing, to say the least.

The fate of nothingness received by the family’s clever and capable second daughter, on the other hand, is only as expected.

Historia
By day, Mary Ballard is dutiful lady’s maid to Charlotte Walden, a wealthy and accomplished belle of New York City high society. But Charlotte would never trust Mary again if she knew the truth about her devoted servant’s past. On her nights off, Mary sheds her persona as prim and proper lady’s maid to reveal her true self - Irish exile Maire O’Farren. She finds release from her frustration in New York’s gritty underworld - in the arms of a prostitute and as drinking companion to a decidedly motley crew consisting of members of a dangerous secret society.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 05-30-20
This book was so well-written and deeply researched. I loved it. The narrator was perfect. I could go on, but I think "Mia"s review covered everything I would say. I hope the author will write a sequel. I want to enter that world again and continue to follow the character's story.
