Great book for thoughts on death. It is at the end of this life one may have regrets to how they may have lived. Everyone should have thoughts on how they would like their life remembered. A legacy may answer many unanswered questions one day.

Such a great book! I read this book for my Book Club and I anticipate a great discussion on this book. As it involves two women in two different time periods that seem to experience the same similarities in more than one way, it becomes a mystery how the past meets the present.

There is everything to love about this Book! A college student is hired to look after an elderly woman who had a recent hip replacement. What is soon apparent, both are surprised because they are not what each other expected. What fabled past has Louise hidden? Can Tanner be depended on to take Louise ANYWHERE? Confessions of truth, facing adult decisions, and mysterious events unravel until the very end. This would be an excellent Book Club selection. The narrator was great!

This really is a story about Family, love, forgiveness, grudges, and what family secrets, lies, and how lack of communication can affect others in that same family. It also portrays how love between family and friends is so important! It is a story of a typical Italian family with their allegiance to the various saints and devotion to their church.
The narrator was wonderful!

This was our Book Club’s selection for March. Evelyn Hugo certainly points out a life of depravity. With her success, her seven husbands, and her secret life to be revealed. This book begs the reporter to do the right thing, or step in and destroy what the old movie star wants through retribution from an age old secret. An interesting story that should have us comparing morality’s progression today from back in the 50’s, 60’s, and beyond, and how do we perceive it today? What laws have changed? A great discussion for Book Clubs!

Such an opening sentence! Keeps you reading from the start! Our Book Club of almost 35 yrs. Loved this book! This book’s story addresses every social issue in America today while emphasizing a program’s failings while dealing with every emotion. A little funny mostly sad, and much “how on earth”? Sometimes the story gets long; however, you can tell this author is is historically tied to this issues, people, and area.

Unlike the Gentleman in Moscow, THIS book was so enjoyable to listen to the the various voices. The opening grabbed my attention immediately. The despair of the time and situation which led to big goals and ambitions, places the characters in all sorts of circumstances from meeting bums on a train to rubbing elbows with a family of old money from New York. Did they finally travel the Lincoln Highway from beginning to end?

I love historical fiction! This book shows us how important history is to our future, and it’s relevance to the world as it is today.
Immigrants and how they are perceived. Every personal moment a mother has felt today in raising her children without her husband through unheard of conditions deepens her love, and bravery to become a fierce force in providing for her children. Yes, this is best read with a box of tissues nearby!

I so enjoyed Tom Hanks telling this story. It seemed so natural for him. The story is a family and the history of the house and it’s affect on each person involved in that house. You either hated the house or loved the house, or just maybe both. The Dutch House had it’s affect and history of each family through their lives. One can envision The Dutch House as an elegant home that stood out in the neighborhood as a house that stood with grace and splendor. In the end, the house is once again united with it’s rightful, appreciative owner.
