Historia
The year is 1920: Flying in the face of convention, legendary American adventuress Beryl Helliwell never fails to surprise and shock. The last thing her adoring public would expect is that she craves some peace and quiet. The humdrum hamlet of Walmsley Parva in the English countryside seems just the ticket. And, honestly, until America comes to its senses and repeals Prohibition, Beryl has no intention of returning stateside and subjecting herself to bathtub gin.

The delightful dynamic duo!
Revisado: 12-11-24
I thoroughly enjoyed this! This is a rare jewel amongst cozy mysteries, it had all the delights and humor you want from the genre but best of all, it had a good mystery. Often cozy mysteries fall short in the mystery and excel in the cozy, this story succeeded in both. I look forward to the rest of the series!

Historia
Jamie and Charlotte are looking for a winter break reprieve in Sussex after a fall semester that almost got them killed. But nothing about their time off is proving simple, including Holmes and Watson's growing feelings for each other. Maybe it's because I'm an adult, but I didn't enjoy it.
Revisado: 11-14-24
This did not stand up to the first book. There was unfortunately not much mystery but a lot a teenage drama. The end was the biggest disappointment, it ruined the book for me completely.

Historia
My Glorious Brothers is the epic story of perhaps the most breathtaking chapter in the history of Israel, a stirring tale of courage for those who like to find meaning for today's world in the great events of history. After witnessing a ransacked and desecrated Jerusalem, Simon and his four brothers - soon to be known and revered as the Maccabees - rise to lead an earthshaking rebellion. Their tale has almost no parallel in human history.

What I didn't know
Revisado: 01-04-23
I grew up listening to Keith Green's music. My mom would play it as we worked in the kitchen or drove to church. because of these sweet memories I have a great fondness for the music and the man, but I didn't know him. after listening to Melody Green's recounting of their time together I have a new appreciation for these two wonderful people, but even more for the amazing God who made them and loved them. it's awesome to think that he wants to give me such life changing love, that he wants to give it too us all. Thank you Ms. Melody for writing this book, but most of all for loving God.

It’s the anniversary of the disappearance of her beloved parents, and she’s promised herself not to get mixed up with any more mysteries. She isn’t sure they’d have approved.

Historia
England, 1920. Eleanor Swift has spent the last few years travelling the world: taking tea in China, tasting alligators in Peru, escaping bandits in Persia and she has just arrived in England after a chaotic 45-day flight from South Africa. Chipstone is about the sleepiest town you could have the misfortune to meet. But then, from the edge of a quarry, through the driving rain, Eleanor is shocked to see a man shot and killed in the distance. Before she can climb down to the spot, the villain is gone and the body has vanished.

Fun story overall.

There were a couple of times that I really wanted to slap the main character for being stupid but I find that to be fairly common in this type of story. I still enjoyed the story though.

New narrator, but still good.
Revisado: 06-28-22
Edsell took some time to adjust to as all new narrators for an established series do, but overall did well. Her American accent was.......lacking, but that tends to be a common problem. The last half of the narration was better than the first, I dont know if she hit her stride or I just grew accustomed to her, but either way by the end Kitty felt like "Kitty". Storyline was a notch above the rest of the series. Overall, I enjoyed it.
