Historia
Billy and Dawnie may be in their seventies, but that won’t stop them taking chances or starting again. Their grown-up children have families and lives of their own, so now it’s Billy and Dawnie’s turn and a life near the sea in Devon beckons. But the residents of Margot Street (or Maggot Street as Dawnie insists on calling it), don’t quite know what to make of their new neighbours.

Amusing

An amusing read, weak plot and before it was done the narrator's voice made me cringe.

Historia
This hilarious, heartfelt, and soaring adventure will delight fans of The Goonies and Indiana Jones. Performed as a 1930s radio drama, it’s bursting with humor for all ages, orchestral scoring, and some of the most talented voices on Broadway. When their ace pilot parents (and adorable puppy) mysteriously disappear over the Pacific, the Flamingo Sisters - Flo, Faye, and Franny - escape the clutches of their evil Uncle Freidrich (who believes girls should never pilot aeroplanes) and join a flying circus.

Fun

I loved this! I could see every character in my mind as the story unfolded. It was a clean, spirited romp of the imagination. It may have been written with young people in mind, but this old lady loved every moment of it!

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Elsa is seven years old and different. Her grandmother is 77 years old and crazy, standing-on-the-balcony-firing-paintball-guns-at-men-who-want-to-talk-about-Jesus crazy. She is also Elsa's best and only friend. At night Elsa takes refuge in her grandmother's stories, in the Land of Almost-Awake and the Kingdom of Miamas, where everybody is different and nobody needs to be normal.

I loved the story, although the performance was a bit stiff. I enjoyed learning about a facet of WW2 I hadn't known before.

Historia
The film Rabbit-Proof Fence is based on this true account of Doris Pilkington's mother Molly, who as a young girl led her two sisters on an extraordinary 1,600 kilometer walk home. Under Western Australia's invidious removal policy of the 1930s, the girls were taken from their Aboriginal families at Jigalong on the edge of the Little Sandy Desert, and transported halfway across the state to the Native Settlement at Moore River, north of Perth. Here Aboriginal children were instructed in the ways of white society and forbidden to speak their native tongue.

Fascinating story, and an aspect of history we hear almost nothing about in the United States. I rooted for the girls each step of the way.

Eleanor Lives!
Revisado: 02-04-15
I could almost.reach out and touch Eleanor in this dramatic, but very realistic, rendering of Eleanor of Aquitaine.. I loved this so much, I will tuck it away to read/listen to again. I had only one issue with the performance, as the transition between chapters was often too seamless, thus momentarily confusing. But that is scarcely a complaint and want to reiterate how fabulous this book is, and should appeal to lovers of history, romance, and strong women.
