Historia
Leo Graf was just your average highly efficient engineer: mind your own business, fix what's wrong, and move on to the next job. But all that changed on his assignment to the Cay Habitat, where a group of humanoids had been secretly, commercially bioengineered for working in free fall. Could he just stand there and allow the exploitation of hundreds of helpless children merely to enhance the bottom line of a heartless mega-corporation?

This has a slightly different focus than most of the Vorkosigan books. I love the focus on engineering and "what makes us human?"

Historia
My name is Bird Howsley, and I'm a beautiful disaster. Okay, "beautiful" is probably being generous. But the "disaster" part is right. In a brutal dystopian waterworld, where survival depends on skill and smarts, I'm pretty much always one bad decision away from watching my life go completely down the drain. Luckily, I have a lifeline: my cute, level-headed sailing teacher, Sargo Paz. Did I say cute? I didn't mean cute. He's just a friend. I definitely don't have weird sex dreams about him.

Post Apocalyptic Realness
Revisado: 03-08-25
Most of the time, dystopian novels feel very ... divorced from reality. But this book has a very realistic world building after the end of humanity as it is currently. It seems very plausible for a world impacted by climate change and corruption to function this way. Plus the main character is NOT the improbable badass that most dystopian female juggernauts are. Bird is Messy, and drinks too much, and zones out in class. She's NOT a badass, or in a ridiculous love triangle. She's confused and acts much more like a real teenager

Historia

Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

The most dramatic of the 3
Revisado: 02-23-25
Such a fun story! A blend of spicy, Travel blog, and epic fantasy. I really liked that the final chapters were read by other actors to represent different perspectives. (Though the majority is only 1 reader who does an excellent job)

Historia
The only magic Emma Hart believes in is caffeine and the power of the dryer to lose one sock per load. A chance encounter lands her in Spellbound, a town where supernaturals have been cursed to remain for centuries - probably not the best time for Emma to discover that she's actually a witch. Between the recent murder of the town's public defender, a goblin accused of theft, remedial witch classes, and the attention of one smoking hot vampire, Emma struggles to navigate this unfamiliar terrain without losing her mind...or her life.

Historia
My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It’s a hard job, and it doesn’t leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.

Different but delightful
Revisado: 07-19-24
This is my new favorite of the series. (Previously that was River Marked) I think I like it for the same reasons, there is a fascinating blend of pantheons and stories. It was twisty, but in a very different way from the others of the series. I loved it!

Revisado: 07-17-24
I have always loved how Mercedes Lackey uses Slavic folklore to supplement her amazing fantasy. This is a really fun blend of Slavic folklore, Native American folklore, and the themes from other books in the elemental masters series. This one is my new favorite!

Historia
When Major Rufus d’Aumesty unexpectedly becomes the Earl of Oxney, he finds himself living in a remote Norman manor on the edge of Romney Marsh with his noble, hostile, and decidedly odd family. His position is contested both by his greedy uncle and by unexpected claimant Luke Doomsday, a dashing member of the local smuggling clan. They should be natural enemies, but cocksure, enragingly competent Luke is a secretary by trade and quickly becomes an unexpected ally, the partner Rufus needs...and soon the lover he can't live without.
