A nice twist on Apocolyptic books
Revisado: 06-01-18
I've listened to or read all of Abrahams' books, I like his writing and the style he has in the books. I haven't run into any that I haven't liked so far. I like the premise behind this series, it basically will be a series of various apocalyptic events, and how a certain group of people survive or perish during the event. It states in the beginning that different people live or die depending on what event has occurred, and that is something I find interesting.
Ash is about a nuclear bomb/warhead exploding in LA and the survival and demise of the citizens. It is a great story, and has pretty much everything you'd expect in an apocalyptic book, death, survival, fights, guns, etc. The next book in the series comes out in about two months, and I will be waiting for that one as well.

Historia
A lot of people have hobbies - most of the time, that hobby is directed by their penchant for a certain thing; sometimes travel and exploration, sometimes food, and in other cases, crafts. However, there are people whose hobbies consist of sinister things: some of them desire to kill women, both young and old, children, or homosexuals.

Not Quite the Most Twisted But Interesting
Revisado: 09-14-16
I think like many that will have or have picked up this book, I have been fascinated by serial killers for quite some time. The shear idea of someone so wrong in the head, they cannot control an insatiable appetite for murder. The story or idea behind this book was intriguing to me; I did my high school science fair over serial killers and their similarities, so I have some preexisting knowledge of serial killers.
The serial killers chosen are not the 'famous' or 'well-known' types; such as Gacy, Fish, or Dahmer. This was something I found interesting as many books focus on the more popular serial killers. This was a new look at different people.
Personally, I think there were some more twisted than the specific serial killers chosen for this book, but that is purely subjective for everyone. I also think the subtitle is a little too long.
As far as content goes, one chapter per serial killer seems fairly appropriate for the setting. I believe some content could have been expanded, but this is not a profiling book (I love those personally), so it may not be necessary. It is a quick read/listen, at just over 2 hours.
The narrator did a great job of going through the book; although it was odd listening to a chipper voice describe a brutal murder.
Seeing this is Book 1 of an unknown series, I am quite interested in listening to newer reviews of this story.

This is not the story of preppers with stockpiles of food, weapons, and a hidden bunker. This is the story of Colton Ryman, his stay-at-home wife, Madison, and their teenage daughter, Alex. In 36 Hours, the Ryman family and the rest of the world will be thrust into the darkness of a post-apocalyptic world.

eerily Possible Future
Revisado: 09-10-16
I absolutely love this book I gave a very possible future with not only the EMP but also with the presidential outcome. The story was wonderfully told by Kevin Pearce one of my favorite narrators. I loved every aspect of the story which masterfully written. I highly recommend this to anyone and cannot wait for the next book. An Interesting Sci-Fi Story
Revisado: 08-25-16
Alien Worlds follows the story of young cadet scouts. The cadets are going through an academy to become colonial scouts for the government to further space exploration and expansion. The story is very interesting and a different take on young adult sci-fi, which does have a slight love story, if you want to call it that.
I felt the writing was of a good quality and that the story progressed at a very nice speed. Some things about the story were irksome (how the characters acted for instance) however, I feel that it was appropriate due to their age in the story.
The narration was good, but not great. There were 'different' voices, to an extent, for the various characters, however, there were also long pauses or odd sounds coming through the recording at various times.
Overall, I do like the book, I think it will be a promising series. I look forward to completing said series as well.

A Nice Apocalyptic Story
Revisado: 08-10-16
This is a post-apocalyptic book written after the world has been destroyed, something I think we all see coming. The book is a well written book by what I understand is a first time author, which says a lot. The author knows how to write a compelling story and plot, and get the reader engaged.
Many books I have listened to or read lately seem to follow multiple persons around, and it gets incredibly confusing. Winter's Edge does not do this and follows a main protagonist throughout the book, I find this very helpful for myself.
The book is a part of an unfinished series, which I think will likely become a very interesting series to finish.

A Thrilling Political Thriller
Revisado: 08-10-16
Sedition is a political thriller, and I found the book fascinating and wonderful to listen to. The story follows the lives of several people during a political crises unlike any we have seen so far. A president is dead, and a group is trying to take control of the government.
I found the book riveting and easy to follow. I liked the short chapters as it made it easier to listen to and pause if needed. I found myself sometimes confused on the differences when chapters jumped from person to person on perspective.
The narration by Kevin Pierce was also top notch.

Well Written SciFi
Revisado: 07-07-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Uncommon Purpose to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version to accurately compare the wo.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I think it did. I wasn't too keen on the narration, but I don't think it was the narrators fault, the recording sounded off to me.
Any additional comments?
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom dot com. I thought the story was good, albeit slow. I had issues getting into and through the book at times. I think part of this issue may have been that I am listening to other audiobooks that incorporate some humor at various points through the story-line; this book did not have nearly enough or really any at all to compensate. I felt this was a problem with the story, but that may be just me.
