Silly fun
Revisado: 03-11-25
The book is silly and fun, same as the others in the series. An easy listen to, and I look forward to the next one.

The story is good, but the writing could be better. If the author were to have a mentor or something to help elevate the writing, it would be magic.
The voice was awful. The voices switch characters. She also gives a feeling of hysteria when someone is crying. Other times, when it should be strong and even.

Historia
Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

Feel good smiles
Revisado: 10-22-24
This book was just so cute. It followed the authors usual formula of couple is friends but shouldn’t be together, start to get closer and then freak out, etc. but the ride to get there was feel good cuteness. There were times where I just had a goofy grin on my face. This would make such a great movie.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Light hearted and read well
Revisado: 04-27-24
This was just a fun read. It was very predictable, but having an octopus character made the plot predictability okay. The voice performers were great.
If you want a feel good, easy listen story, this is it.

Historia
Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned. As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. But when Lou pulls a wicked stunt, the two are forced into an impossible situation - marriage. Lou, unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, must make a choice. And love makes fools of us all.

Male narrator is awful
Revisado: 07-29-22
The male narrator is terrible. He reads. Like there. MUST. Be. All sorts of. Random. Monotone pauses.
Female was great.
Read for book club, and plan on reading the other two for fun.

Top notch performance
Revisado: 03-31-22
The book was cute and enjoyable. Some redundancy (books. I only like books. She would much rather a book.) and typical teen drama of lovers having complete misconceptions and assumptions about each other but refusing to talk. But overall, just fun.
The narrator was awesome. She did a great job and I loved that her tone, volume, and enthusiasm flowed with the story.

Historia
On her 18th birthday, Cleo receives a mysterious invitation to a scavenger hunt. She's sure her best friend, Hope, or her brother, Connor, is behind it, but no one confesses. And as Cleo and Hope embark on the hunt, the seemingly random locations and clues begin to feel familiar. In fact, all of the clues seem to be about Cleo's dead boyfriend, Declan, who drowned on a group rafting trip exactly a year ago: a bracelet she bought him, a song he loved, a photo of the rafting group, taken just before Declan drowned.

It was alright. An easy listen. The reader tries to do male voices, and it is awful so heads up on that.

Excellent writing
Revisado: 02-11-22
The story itself was good. There were a few cringy moments, but it was from the perspective of an old man.
The writing itself was incredible. The vocabulary, the different character voices, all of it.
