WEREWOLF: The True Story of an Extraordinary Police Dog is the raw, first-hand account of the life of a police K9 named Brag and his cop partner. When they first meet, Brag shows no interest in human attachment and his handler is wary of caring too much for a dog whose life he must risk every night. But as the dangerous manhunts push both to their mental and physical limits, the two develop an unbreakable bond that blurs the line between human and canine.

Beautifully written story about an amazing friendship and a life of service
Revisado: 05-28-24
Full disclosure: I am a cop who worked with Brag and his human partner. That being said, I loved this book, period. I remember many of the cases and know all the locations. I enjoyed hearing about them from the perspective of the K-9 handler. What I loved most is Officer Hedges’ writing and the beautiful way he describes the relationship and the love for each other that he and Brag shared. He also absolutely nails it when describing the life of a police officer and the culture within the department. Well done my friend and thank you!

Historia
Bo Tully is the sheriff of Blight County, Idaho, where law enforcement is usually pretty mundane: tracking down truants running away from school, picking up country boys who've had a few too many beers. But Tully gets a little more than the country norm when an ex-con calls with the startling news that there's a corpse draped across one of his fences.

Bo Tully is a fun character and the friendly banter between he and Pap had me laughing out loud at times. It’s not Tolstoy but it’s a fun easy listen…. I’m a fan!

Revisado: 02-16-24
It was great to hear some of the familiar stories told by Paul himself but I was particularly moved by the vulnerability that he showed throughout his journey to find personal happiness. I found myself in tears during certain parts as some of his experiences with personal failures resonated with me.

An accurate description of what a career in policing is like
Revisado: 02-07-24
As a fellow cop, many of the stories, descriptions and explanations where things I already knew but I still appreciated them. Many of situations were described with the cynical humor of a cop which I found funny and familiar. As I near retirement myself, I teared up at the end as I contemplated the end of my career. Thanks for a fun read. Fair winds Sarge.

Stunning...a wonderful listen...a handbook for life. Those words of advance praise from another celebrated author scarcely convey just how powerfully mesmerizing is the latest book by New York Times best-selling author and nationally syndicated radio talk show host Larry Elder. Dear Father, Dear Son is a personal memoir of Elder's troubled - one might even say tortured - relationship with his father, and the astonishing outcome that develops when Elder, at long last, confronts him.

Historia
In turbulent 1870s Texas, the revered and fearless Ranger Leander McNelly led his men in one dramatic campaign after another, throwing cattle thieves, desperadoes, border ruffians, and other dangerous criminals into jail or, if that's how they wanted it, six feet under. They would stop at nothing in pursuit of justice, even sending 26 Rangers across the border to retrieve stolen cattle—taking on hundreds of Mexican troops with nothing but their Sharps rifles and six-guns. The nation came to call them “McNelly’s Rangers.”

More of history than a story
Revisado: 01-31-24
I guess I expected more of a story about McNelly. Instead, this was more of a history of Texas and it’s colorful characters and the story of McNelly didn’t come until well into the book. I still enjoyed it but it felt a little disjointed

Vivid imagery and tender details of a boy’s relationship with his father remembered from the perspective of the boy now an older man. This one got me square in the heart. Yes, the ending leaves many of the characters’ stories unfinished but that is the point…. Tron doesn’t know and so we don’t know either and that’s life.

Historia
Cameron Winter was born with the ability to recreate detailed crime scenes in his imagination and dissect the motives and encounters that produced them. And after reading a puzzling news story about a wealthy family killed in a small town in the Chicago suburbs, he can't resist the chance to apply this deductive power in the pursuit of justice for the victims. Three members of the family, along with their live-in nanny, were pulled from their burning mansion, already dead from gunshot wounds. The only survivor is a young boy whose memory of the event raises more questions than answers.
