I love these characters!
Revisado: 06-09-23
I will never get tired of these characters. I wish there would be more novel length stories added to this series. Jonathon Maberry is a phenomenal horror writer and his take on vampires and werewolves is among the best I’ve seen.

I love the story and all of the characters (except Ray. I LOATHE him). I’ll admit, I do skip the sex scenes because that’s just not my jam, but it didn’t take away from the story. Plus, I know the area really well so I really felt immersed in it!

I absolutely loved this one! I’ve spent a lot of time in the Black Hills area for Sturgis bike week. The author email as spot on, down to the black hills gold grape leaf. I laughed my way through this one I the best way. The tone and voice reminded me a lot of Flight Risk by Cherie Priest. I loved all of the characters and the story was fantastic! I will definitely be reading the rest of this series! I’m doing book 2 right now!

This was such a great story! I knew within the first couple of chapters who the killer was, but only because I’m really cynical. The author did a fantastic job of dropping Easter eggs and giving multiple suspects. And the narrator was fantastic! I usually am not a fan when narrators try to make a he voices for each character, but this narrator did such a killer job! I’d love for her to narrate for me if I ever get published!

By the time I realized the truth about Daniel, it was too late. But the truth about me? He never saw that coming.... Dr. Daniel Ashcroft was perfect: handsome, romantic, protective. I thought I was so lucky. But then I heard the rumors about his previous girlfriend, that she had vanished without a trace. That’s when I found the cameras in my apartment. I was trapped. Daniel made it clear I couldn’t leave him, not without risking everyone I loved. I had to disappear, so I arranged my own kidnapping. I should have known Daniel would never let me get away that easily.

If I didn’t know any better, I would swear this story was based on my ex. I mean it’s uncanny the similarities between the two. Really well written, and she definitely captured what it’s like to be in that sort of relationship!

Something a little different!
Revisado: 08-13-22
This wasn’t what I generally read but it was still great! I will agree with a previous poster that it kind of seemed like a few old fashioned ghost stories strung together with the same main characters. But it did have that classic ghost story feel that I like. I think a lot of the reviews were overly harsh. The last few chapters really brought it all together. And the ending had a real Firestarter vibe in my opinion!

Historia
The Cold Creek Highway stretches close to five hundred miles through British Columbia’s rugged wilderness to the west coast. Isolated and vast, it has become a prime hunting ground for predators. For decades, young women traveling the road have gone missing. Motorists and hitchhikers, those passing through or living in one of the small towns scattered along the region, have fallen prey time and again. And no killer or abductor who has stalked the highway has ever been brought to justice.

I wish I could give this story more stars. It was EXCELLENT. This is my 65th book of the year and it is definitely the top of my list. Chevy Stevens did a fantastic job of evoking emotion and illustrating the real life dangers to young women in the world, especially “wayward” women. I’m so sad it’s over!

Great story!
Revisado: 07-02-22
Like the title said, great story! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of the as the main character’s voice, as previous posters stated. Based on key phrases I can tell it was written that way on purpose and not the fault of the narrator. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I just pictured his voice to be more gruff (rode hard if that makes sense) instead of someone who should be judging wine tasting. Other than that I liked it and would be interested in reading the next one!

I loved it!
Revisado: 06-22-22
I have to admit, I got this thinking it would be a good comp for my current manuscript which I’ll be querying soon. It ultimately wasn’t what I was looking for, but it was better in so many ways. Brilliant story and the narrator was awesome. I loved the teamwork of an average citizen and an LEO. Cherie Priest also did this very well with her Booking Agents series. But I am extremely impressed with the representation of a person with long term sobriety and still feeling it on their shoulders sometimes. When I say it was spot on, it was spot on! (13 years here). This was a fantastic and entertaining story and I will definitely be reading more from this author!
